The reveal was such a "what the.." moment that if I had known who the killer was to begin with, it would of been hard for me to even bother playing(or putting out full price for the game).
There is still much to get out of this game (story, visuals, game play) and the replay value is there too because as you probably already know, your every action has a consequence. I'm going to go back eventually to kill off players just to find out for myself what happens.
Bottom line, still worth getting...$35 or less though.
Hm... yeah, that's why I'm really careful about which reviews i go to... particulorly story based games.
But, I still think it's worth experencing. At least a rental anyway. If you think you were going to ever replay the game to see the branching paths, then it's worth playing after knowing this.
It sucks that you got the game spoilt for you, but the game is still worth playing, when the game reveals who the Killer is..it just won't have as much as an impact on you.
I just finished my second playthough of the game and I still enjoyed it, not as good as my first playthough but fun nevertheless as I experienced things that I didn't see before.
The story and characters are very poorly written. It is obvious who the killer is so knowing really doesn't matter. It makes no sense given the narrative but it's still obvious that David Cage is such a bad writer that he would make him the killer (the other choice would just have been even dumber and make the game make even less sense). I still suggest renting the game because there is really only two ways to find it, you can be someone who has the slightest ability to find problems with stories and characters in which case you should find the game hillarious. Or you can have very little experience with well told stories, no sense of forshadowing, and can somehow fall for lies that most players tell about the game (such as your choices mattering and having a big effect on everything that happens) and then you will love the game.
I think it's funny when people says that they knew who the origami killer was before the reveal. I confess that I didn't have a single clue who it was, I was so shocked by the reveal.
For the OP, it might not worth $60 if you know who the killer is, but this is a must play game regardless. Maybe you can find for $30-$40 somewhere online.
1: His appearence
2: His appearence on the cover in the very back with a gun
3: The fact that he can not die
4: That he obviously isn't working for anyone
5: That the game went out of its way to let you know that he killed the store clerk from the camera angles and common sense
6: That when he found out about the typewriters it was said almost nobody had one like it while the camera zoomed in on his typewriter
7: That he gets more done than the police and FBI in two days then they have in years (got to love this games writing where the cops do nothing, don't question anyone, and no one turns anything in to them)
8: He goes on a killing spree in the mansion
9: One of the ways the story could have been more logical about the cops knowing nothing is that he could have been working with that ******* cop because they had been partners
10: He has asthma, which is pointless until you see that the kid in the flashback obviously does as well
11: The game has no supporting characters that make return appearances (due to the illusion of choice the game has, if they came back your choices would have had to have actually mattered) except for the cop
None of those reasons gave you any idea?
I'd rent it. It's got a story that you'll either love or hate (I personally thought the atmosphere was great, but the actual story was really mediocre) and you can easily get through a couple of endings in a weekend. There isn't a lot of reason to replay it afterwards, since you don't play it for the gameplay.
Meh, honestly IDK on getting it. Maybe borrow it from a friend. It's definitely a solid and innovative game - but that's like paying to watch Toy Story 3 after someone spoils it and tells you Woody dies in the fire pit. Would you really wanna bother purchasing the movie then?
But yeah, borrow it, and try to get a cool ending - there are some moments that are definitely worthy of passing by, especially the trials.
Buy it used, return it to game stop a few days later after you have beaten it, kuz its not that long of a game, its still pretty interesting, but knowing who the killer is is a HUGE spoiler, Not worth paying new OR used price if you know the ending IMO.
Or you can get them all in a few hours by replaying the last 20 minutes of the game.and you can easily get through a couple of endings in a weekend.
Okay I was watching the review for heavy rain and sombody spioled it and told me who the oragami killer is. is it still worth at least renting? iI dont know how he became the oragami killer.Windown_95

ya somone said THE FAT GUY KILLED THE CHILDREN then everyone got pissed and i know. that was one of the games why i wanted a ps3. and i want it for an excuse to yell at the top of my lungs "JASON"Windown_95U probably just spoiled it for someone else...
I got it spoiled too but here's what I thought: Maybe the person who spoiled didn't tell the truth? Or maybe he was? Kinda like when Harry Potter's last book arrived, some went Harry Potter dies! But here's the thing, it's a bit of a spoiler since it ruins the immersion a bit, you'll always have it in the back of the head but... Is it true or false? As said, it's very possibly that someone called out just to troll, or perhaps this is what he thought while yet not completing the game. I mean, the game tries at least a bit to make us go "hmm this could be the person!!!".
Even if that is not the case, I still say it's worth it. The game is great and very exciting, I really wished to get out of some situations with my characters and I was afraid of screwing up.
Also, this particular scene was great. 8)
TINY
That woman's shower scene. So did you guys take off the top or panties first? :D
Its an absolutely amazing game. Ive never played anything this immersing.
wow i forgot about Heavy rain completely O.o lol btw is it a game you haveto really be into the story for it to be good? cos i prefer games with good gameplay seeing as i skip cutscenes alot except for MGS4 now that was a long game (cutscene wise)crashndashIf you don't find the story funny you shouldn't find it to be good, unless you really like quick time events. The whole game is pretty much a cutscene with quick time events and meaningless (until the that 20 minutes) choices thrown in

I was halfway through the game and someone on-line spoiled it for me too. I sold it the next day...
