Lol a friend of mine who has a 360 is so jealous XD.
Itll be a great game but i doubt GOTY, but it should get a award of some sort.
Don't get so hyped - you will be sorely disapointed if you are expecting an absolutely amazing, GOTY game. It's Jan/Feb time I think - the date is the 7th of one those months. Unless it's changed.Adziboy
that is true. you will get a LOT more than that!
i don't know what is the problem some people have with QTEs. the game is not a interactive movie people! you can walk freely just like in indigo prophecy. also i'd like to say as an example that i have recently played the dante's inferno demo and despite it features "traditional" gameplay most of the game button presses feel out of context and are just plain button mashing unlike heavy rain8)
It's about talking to NPC's, trying to keep your self esteem up and controlling "action sequences" through QTE'smtmattwow that sounds so depressing O.o should something like that count as a game?
[QUOTE="mtmatt"]It's about talking to NPC's, trying to keep your self esteem up and controlling "action sequences" through QTE'scrashndashwow that sounds so depressing O.o should something like that count as a game? I didn't say it wasn't a game. It's just more of a game that plays you.

Heavy rain will fail. WAIT DONT FLAME ME YET :? . Its just I dont believe it sell alot since its not really a game as much as an interactive movie. Might have a good story. But even then it wouldn't sell well among casual 13Cyou're right about the casual part imo. i liked indigo prophecy :P i just don't like it when people who have never tried indigo prophecy bash it altogether as a waste of monies.

But even then it wouldn't sell well among casual 13CI think you mean the mainstream audience; there is no such thing as a casual gamer, thier just more mainstream gamers which makes up the bulk of the gaming market. This game isn't like Madden or CoD, it doesn't have that mainstream appeal, its like the art house movie vs the summer blockbuster. The art house movie will not lead the box office, it will not overshadow the summer movie.
It will be different alright. I just don't expect it to be well recieved on a console. this is more of a PC genre.mtmattI really don't see what indicates this kind of game will fly on the PC. This certainly looks like it would be better served on consoles. Oh and its not QTE's because QTE's don't have options. The scenes are equivalent to dialouge tree's in RPG, just that they dictate certain actions along with dialouge. You can also move about during certain sequences look at the scene with Jayden in the crusher to get an idea of how its not even close to as straightforward a QTE is.

[QUOTE="WiiMan21"][QUOTE="mtmatt"]Hmmm so QTE's with pauses inbetween, ok then i'm in. Sounds awesome.mtmatt

Really, # of posts counts for something here? Lol. A little bit, from person to person.[QUOTE="mtmatt"]It will be different alright. Damn wasn't thinking considering ps3 users are used to watching half of their games it should fit right in.

He probably won't be so jealous when he realizes it's not much of a game at all.mtmattSo, you must have played and completed it already eh? You are very lucky indeed.

Don't know what else you want. Seriously you bought a console to get hyped over a gam e like this? You are LOOKING at it. You didnt PLAY it. So dont judge a game you havent played. If you think its just a bunch of scenes with button pushing you are wrong.

He's right though.
Fahrenheit was only different because it had the red/yellow/blue/green panel things, but at it's heart, it was a point and click adventure game and those were birthed on the PC.
Escape From Monkey Island, The Longest Journey, Broken Sword, Syberia, all cult classics on PC.
It's the exact same thing with Heavy Rain - take out all the QTE and you have a regular adventure game that belongs on the PC.

Really, # of posts counts for something here? It does tend to give you some credibility when bashing or praising a game. People can look up your post history and see what your comment trend is.[QUOTE="mtmatt"]He probably won't be so jealous when he realizes it's not much of a game at all.danjammer69So, you must have played and completed it already eh? You are very lucky indeed.Last i heard the developers weren't even calling it a game anymore. You're just along for the ride, yeah you can turn left or right.

its an evolved form of the adventure genre i dont see you hating on the longest journey or myst
[QUOTE="mtmatt"][QUOTE="Knivez0r"] PC Genre? Have you played Indigo Prophecy? Knivez0rDamn wasn't thinking considering ps3 users are used to watching half of their games it should fit right in. You didn't answer my question. This is why we like to scrutinize post counts. People like you say garbage like that which shows that you are truly no fan of the PS3 and most likely will bash anything associated with it. Really now, PS3 users are used to watching half of their games? I am assuming that you are meaning MGS4, which of course does not qualify as half of PS3 games. Sorry man, but your true colors have shown. Therefore, you have little to no credibility when speaking of Heavy Rain and will most likely contine the trend of endlessly bashing the game based on your own personal bias against the PS3 and not the game itself. You made this way to easy.

FIrst thier technically not QTE's but saying take those out which are the focal point of the game is like saying take out aiming from FPS on PC and its just as good on consoles. Those are the main game mechanics, to take them out would make it a completely different thing. So if the removal of the game defining mechanic is necessary to make it a better fit for PC, then its not meant for the PC.[QUOTE="danjammer69"][QUOTE="Knivez0r"] You didn't answer my question.mtmattThis is why we like to scrutinize post counts. i think half you post count has been dedicated to bashing this game so its quite close to endlessly bashing
also your showing ur lack of understanding of gaming in general if you cant accept the fact that fact people like playing adventure games and have liked playing them for probably over 20 years
something like heavy rain is probably over your head anyways
I am only worried about the voice acting in this game, but other than that, Heavy Rain looks set to be a promising story-driven adventure.

No, it's not like saying "take out aiming from an FPS on PC." With an FPS, aiming is essential; with Heavy Rain, the QTEs, or what you deem them otherwise, are not vital.
Add the QTE or take them out, Heavy Rain is still a point and click adventure game disguised as a cinematic experience. QD didn't have to litter their game with the button pressing, but seeing as how it's so much more 'movie-like,' I think it was quite appropriate, just not completely necessary.
They want to take the adventure genre of gaming in a more cinematic direction, but at the end of the day, it's still a point and click adventure game.
