40 - Has no EE (Emotion engine) and cant play ps2,ps1 games AT ALL. It also has limited USB and memory card slots.

60 - HAS all the features from launch. Probably the best CHOICE out of all 3.

80 - Doesnt have EE, due to production costs. Can still play ps2,ps1 games...not all.

Personally i would go with the 60

It gives you full backwards compatibility with PS2 and PS1 games.

Yeah, I'm also getting the 40 GB in a few days (Thursday to be precise) 'cause I don't mind the Backwards compadibility (I have the PS2 if I want to play PS2 games). And if 40GB aren't enough (which I doubt) then I can always get more HD by bying an extra one.

The EE (Emotion Engine) is the chip from the PS2. The 60gb, which has the EE along with the Cell, has like 95-97% backwards compatibility with ps2 games. The 80 gb, which uses software emulation, instead of the EE, has like 80-something % (which is still really good). The 40gb has no ps2 backwards compatibility. They all have nearly 100% bc with ps1 games. The only other real difference, is the 40gb doesn't have the flash card readers, and has only 2 usb ports.

Exactly. Well said. The 60Gb is for all those people who want to use the extra feature. Why pay for something if you are not going to be using it. You can install a bigger HDD later.

Check out my thread "PS3 Information for Potential Buyers"

Be sure to post on that thread with more questions if you have any.

If the thread manages to stay alive for a while, a mod will consider making it a sticky thread.

Get 60gb.... THEN UPGRADE TO 250GB OF MANLY POWER> srsly.. upgrading is easy

Oh... and also mainly because 60 uses hardware BC while 80 only uses software. Unless u don't care for BC... then get the 40 and upgrade

80Gb if you want Backwards Compatible, 40 Gb w/o bc. Ask youself if ps2 games are worth $100. Both have wi-fi. Free online.

The 40gb can play PS1 games.

Indeed. They all can; I don't know why people keep spouting out that it can't because in undoubtedly can. :?

Please post here http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=26050601

if the thread stays alive for a while then a mod will sticky it.

Please help me out, it's a really good thread

If the mod sees that I post in it a lot, he won't sticky it because I've been bumping it a lot

So sorry, I can't post there until it gets stickied, but someone else probably will

Thanks in advance for your help

abdelmessih101

While it could be helpful, your thread lacks structure on the games section.
