Two quick questions hopefully you fine folks will help me with

There's a bundle on Sony's website for the 120 gb ps3 slim and infamous and uncharted 1 for the normal price of 299. Good deal or can you look into the crystal ball and see a better one around the corner? I would probably buy GOW:Collection and maybe UC2 as well but not sure

Likewise, you can get a 3 year warranty from Sony for 70 dollars while I could get a Best Buy warranty for 2 years for the same amount. I could also buy it at walmart and get their 3 year warranty for 44.98. I've always used Best Buy's warranty for the 360 because I expected it to break often. What (if any) warranty would you suggest?

FYI, for all those interested the bundle runs through december 5th on sony's website

was actually planning on getting all 3...make sure it's extra protected

No but seriously does anyone have an opinion? I've never had a warranty from Walmart or Sony.....are they good warranties or do you have to jump through hoops to get something done?

I would just get the one from Sony. If it breaks, they'll fix it, simple as that.

And I would get that bundle, there probably won't be a better one until next year's black Friday. There may be other bundles but not for that cheap.

putting all bias aside, what do people think? I've decided I'll get the Sony one if I get a warranty

Did you get one for yours? I just hate not insuring a 300 dollar piece of equipment especially since it's the 1st gen of the slim

Ok, so here's the situation I have....

I can buy it from sony's website and get uncharted 1 and infamous along with a 3 year warranty for 411 after tax

I can buy it from walmart (in store) and get Batman AA (already beat but guess could just play), Infamous and The Dark Knight bluray and a 3 year warranty (2 years after Sony's 1 year) for about 380 after tax. I could buy uncharted 1 for 30 dollars at walmart and be right at the Sony price

I'm planning on getting GOW:collection and UC2 regardless (subject to change) of where I buy it from.....so has anyone used the walmart warranty? The main sticking point is the warranty system. If Sony's is worth it, then I don't mind paying the extra.

I believe you have to pay for shipping (not certain...if anyone has info on this, it would be nice) for walmart's plan and you don't for Sony's

So which bundle and accompanying warranty would you buy if you were me?

Also, is Bluray honestly worth it all the upgrade expense and added expenses from just regular DVD's. I have a 32 inch 1080 p Samsung and will eventually get a 42-50 in tv when I can afford it in a year or so but would also like your unbiased opinions on bluray worth

I've had three 60GB PS3's fail. Had no warranty the last time so Sony wanted me to pay them to get another refurb. After my experience with the unreliable PS3, I'll never buy a console without at least two years warranty. I refused to buy a refurb from Sony. I thought it was pointless since I already received two refurbs from them and they both died. One only lasted four months. The other lasted 18 months. Instead I bought a Slim and bought the three year warranty. Three years was the longest they did. I would've bought a five year warranty if they had one. Now if anything goes wrong in those three years, I can just take it back to the store and they'll give me a new one. No questions asked, no having to ship anything to Sony, no hassle.

Well, I'm going to buy it from either walmart or Sony because of the bundles while BB just sells the console right now. Not to mention I think BB's warranty plan has taken a serious nose dive from where it used to be. I'm really curious about Walmart's plan because that's where I'm leaning towards right now. Has anyone used it and what was the experience like?

There's always someone who tries to say I'm to blame for the PS3's I've owned dying. No, I didn't store them in an oven. I kept them in the same place as my other consoles. I take very good care of my consoles. The best way I can prove that is I've had three different 360's since they launched in 2005. I've never had the RRoD with any of them. Not many people can say that. I only use my PS3 once every few weeks so over-use couldn't have been the problem. The only other console I've had this much trouble with was the PS2. Two of them stopped working due to faulty disc drives. The disc drive was a major cause of problems for the PS2, it's also one of the most common problems with the PS3.

The link above is for a petition asking Sony to increase the warranty for people who experience faulty Blu-ray drive problems. It's currently at over 1,000 signatures. Feel free to sign it. I know it probably won't change anything because Sony refuses to even acknowledge there's a problem. Signing it can't hurt though.

Worth it...every penny. You can often find discounted Blu-rays now though and I personally don't spend more then 21 bucks avg (CDN) on a Blu-ray...I've learned to be patient and wait a bit and always just pre-order my new release discs through the DVD club I'm part of and they always have buy one a t regular and take the rest at 14 and change...even for pre-order new releases... If you feel like gambling a bit though and forgoing the extended warranty...PS3 is a pretty safe bet anyways in its build and function...you could do yourself a huge favour and pick up some eye-popping magic...may I suggest you start your viewing with Planet Earth on Blu-ray...some other favourite Blu-ray views are 300, Transformers and the POTC trilogy. Congrats on your decision to purchase...you won't regret it.
