My brother is getting me one of these 3 games for Christmas. Either Assassins Creed 2, Demons Souls or Modern Warfare 2.

I haven't played assassins creed 1 and even though 1 and 2 aren't really connected, I don't really want it that much anyways.

I want demons souls, but I got dragon age so I think that having 2 rpgs this holiday might be a bit much, but I hear it's a great game so I don't know.

Modernwarfare 2, well, I just platinumed uncharted 2 so I need a new shooter but I'm still iffy on it all.

All 3 of these games are great so I don't know, what does everyone else think?

You should try getting Modern Warfare 2. It's a great game.

Demons Souls is not a sequel. Therefore as a gift it represents something truly new. I would go that way.

COD4 is still the one to beat in that arena, and AC2 looks amazing, but is a sequel, so wait for the price to come down, or for a collection.

See if you can score a cheap copy of Assassin's Creed 2 - I just ordered one myself from Gamestop (Canada) for $30 and it seems that sale isn't exactly isolated. Ubisoft loves to slash prices on their games. Barring that, I would go with Demon's Souls for one main reason - it's probably going to become hard to find, being an Atlus title. They already have lines in the online agreement stating they may close the online servers as soon as next April, and while I doubt they'd do that, now would be a great time to play it as there are still people playing, leaving messages, and invading.

I'd say AC2, easily. But I'm clearly in the minority here, judging from the poll. =\

Demon's Souls is the way to go, then Modern Warefare 2, then Assassin's Creed II, in that order. Of course this is just my own personal opinion/preference.

Modern Warfare 2 - Short Campaign. - Campaign fun, continues story. - Excellent multiplayer. - Addictive and lots of incentive to keep playing. - Shooter fans will love, everyone else will find okay and if you dis like shooters then don't even go near this. - Primarily multiplayer. Demons Souls: - Hard, but not frustrating (unless you get easily frustrated) - Long campaign and replayability. Deep. - Primarily singleplayer. - Co-op but works different to other games. Also multiplayer but best to read up on. - Cheaper. Assassins Creed 2: - Primarily, and only, singleplayer. - No online at all. - Carries on original story and has its turn of twists. - Lengthy if you like collecting. Otherwise, possible rent. - Big improvement on first.

Thanks, I went and got AC2, so now I guess that just leaves the debate up to Demons Souls or Modern Warfare 2 as a christmas present. I see the majority are saying demons souls even though I was expecting modern warfare to win... makes it harder to choose :(

Assassin's Creed 2 for single-player

MW2 for multiplayer (flawed but fun online, I would rent it for the single-player)

Demon's Souls for hardcore gamers wanting a fun, unique, difficult experience.

Overall I would say Assasin's Creed 2.

Demon's Souls, without a question. The game was such a breath of fresh air, and enjoyable down to the very last second. If you can handle the learning curve.. (which is very steep, I will admit but once you get the hang of things anyone can manage it)

I have quite a backlog right now and was going to start AC 2 or Dragon Age next.

After reading this thread maybe I'll start Demons Souls after I finish Uncharted 2.

I found Demon's Souls rather frustrating, and it lacks the variety in armor, weapons, and mission objectives/side quests to make replaying the game over and over compelling. It's like playing an old school MMORPG, it's a grindfest, and a major league chore to keep up. The first play through was entertaining enough in it's own way, but past that, playing the game is like have a second job. It's work. If you get it, get it on the cheap.

If you are looking for a game to play over and over, get MW2, you get hooked to it and it takes up a significant amount of time.

If you are looking for a great adventure with an outstanding story, AC2

As for Demons Souls, never played it. Dont see whats so good about it from the gameplay and footage.

Bottom Line: I'd get MW2. (If you dont have inFamous or Uncharted 2, get them:D
