1. Will I be able to play PS2 games on the 40GB PS3?
No you will not be able to play PS2 games on the 40GB. You can play PS2 games on an 80GB.
2. Is it okay to buy the 40GB?
The 40 GB only has 2 USB ports, and no memory card readers. It does not play PS2 games. You will probably run out of 40GB pretty quickly with 4GB installs on games now. If you do not mind any of these things, then go for the 40GB.
3. Which PS3 is usually in stores? The 80GB?
You will only find the 40GB in stores right now, if your lucky - you may find the 80GB. The 80GB bundle with MGS4 and Dualshock 3 comes out in June.
4 . I wanted to buy the white PS3, is it a bad idea?
Yes, it is probably a bad idea. The firmware will be harder for you to update, since you can only get white PS3's out of Japan. Just buy a black PS3 at a store near you.
5. I'm buying a PS3 solely for MGS4, should I just get the bundle?
If you are buying it only for only MGS4 you may want to think about the bundle. I believe the bundle will be $500. This comes with MGS4 ($60) and a DS3 ($60) and a 80GB PS3 (about $480). It's a good deal if it comes for $500. You will pay an extra $100, but will get another 40GB - 2USB ports, memory card readers, backwards compatibility, MGS4 and a Dualshock 3 controller. I say go for the bundle.
If you have any other questions, just ask.
