Help me: Playstation Vita or Kindle Fire

Hear me out. I'm a college student with tons of free time everyday. My phone can only keep me occupied for so long, not to mention I travel a lot and usually find a spare two hours in my day of sitting around. It would be nice to be doing something or have a sweet gadget to be doing things on. Hence the topic question: Vita or Kindle Fire. The cost isn't really a big deal, either way, I don't plan on going hog wild but enough to keep my entertainment needs satisfied. I want something multi-dimensional, entertaining, built well and will sure to be here next year(not cancelled or anything). Which is worth it?

Depends if you like to read books and magazines more or play video games more. The two share similarities in function outside of this.
