HELP! My PS3 just DIED!?!?!?

Has anybody ever had their PS3 die. This is what happened I was just playing RB6V online and all of the sudden my screen froze so I reset my PS3 and then the usual loading screen came up "Sony Entertainment Of America" or w/e but the the screen froze once agian and then I tried to reset it agian and it wouldnt so my only choice left was to rest it from the back so I did. Now it will not show anything on the screen nor play any of the sounds so I guess no my PS3 is just a $600 dollar brick serving no use. Has anybody else has had this happen to them? What do I need to do? Call Sony or just take it back from where I bought it from which I don't even know where my sales reciept is.... BTW I downloaded the update 1.92 and well everything was fine until today I did notice that my ps3 was freezing up more frequently though.

good luck with that... sony charges 150 dollars if u dont show proof of purchase for a refurbished ps3.. Mine broke too, but luckily i had my statement to show proof of purchase. Still waiting on my box to ship it back to them.

o yea and thats only if u havnt passed the 1yr warranty from sony, if u did, than ur screwed.

better. Anyways was the yellow light on the PS3 when it froze?

Did you turn the PS3 off from the back or front when you restarted?

Sorry that I haven't been in here for a few hours, I had to go to school at 6 and I just got out. Anyways right before I went to school I tried it agian and this time everything worked but if I signed in it would frezze up so now I've got it running but I'm just not signed in to the PSN. I did mess around with all the cords and made sure they were correctly pluged in but I need notice that the cords are getting pinched from the very back of my entertainment center so I loosen all of the cords and now its running fine. I don't know what up maybe it due to the psn. I just hope that it doesn't crap out on me anytime soon though cause I don't have 150 off hand or in my account.

anything can break down its just a matter of time , do you know disc based consoles have more problems then the genesis nes snes n64 or gbs lol its true i cant name but one major problem and that is prone with any electronic- the power cord gets blown o r fuse , nothing major just needs a new plug ,. but a disc console , you know as well as i do what ps1 and ps2 did after 3 yrs of use give error messages , for example ps1- doesnt load game instead it brings the cd player mem card menu up the ps2 gave disc read errors and memcard errors in which mem card stops working .... also blows fueses especailly ps1 and ps2 slim

and with the new consoles(wii ps3 360 ) no matter how much you payed they aint immune to wear and tear and he is telling the truth maybe an update caused the freeze ups etc the1.92 was dangerous lol it made my ps3 freeze once and its only a matter of time before the next update comes and there are a 50/50 chance the update will render your ps3 360 or even the most reliable one the wii even if that doesnt happen somthing will go wrong there is no way your console will last 100 yrs or less depending how long you live

Wallmart for the most part is awesome with returns. Box it up and take it back. Worse they can do is say no. Then you call 911.realmarine187

actually buddy my PS3 would freeze up one or twice while playing Warhawk? All the other games were fine only warhawk, but I would just reset it and it would work.. but last night I was Updating my PS3 verison 1.92 ... the loading was fine it finished and rebooted, but when the system rebooted nothing would show?.. just a black screen... All 4 lights on my controllerwould just blink then just shut off =0(.My Ps3's green light is on but wont play anything.. At first it sucked cause warhawk was still in there and I thought I wasn't gonna be able to get it out but I hit the eject button and it came out...I Called sony today and gave thema bunch of info like street address, Name, and PS3 Seria# he put me on hold too see if he could try to trouble shot it butwhen he got back on the line he said I would have to send it insothey were gonna sent me a box which takes 7-10 daysto put the system in and send it back.... He saidthat they will try to fix it or send me a new one,he also said That he needed a copy of where I purchased it so im not sure buddy call sony if you already havent.. sorry buddy hope you get it worked out =0( :(
