HELP my ps3 power went out:(

i just dropped a 1000 on my new ps3. i was playing call of duty3 and for some reason the power just flicked out and now it doesn't turn back on. Can it be from overheating? Does the warranty cover it? i've only had it for 3 or 4 days i'm sad

 First thing you should have done is called Sony.

Dropping a 1000 of anything on your PS3 is not good for business. Unless it was 1000 feathers.doolies

 Did you buy it from a store??? 3-4 days try taking it back to the store first so you don't have to wait on shipping etc.........Just say it was broken out of the box

Seriously this sounds like an overheating problem.

But it could also mean that the powercable is not inserted correctly. Did you check that ? (I know this is dumb advice, but 8 out of ten times it is something as stupid like that, that is the cause)

it might have been an electrical surge

i dont take any chances with mine ive got a surge protection lead

also on the second day i had my ps3 i tried 2 install linux but mucked up , my ps3 didnt turn bk on after that i just took it bk 2 hmv and got a new 1

I would just make sure of all the simple things before hand.  make sure the power switch on the back of the PS3 is turned "ON".  make sure the power cord is plugged in to the PS3.  make sure the power cable is plugged into the wall/surge protector.  if it's plugged into a surge protector, make sure the surge protector is turned on.  make sure the wall socket is working correctly by plugging in other devices to see if they work.

if everything is working normally and your PS3 still doesn't turn on, then return it to the store you bought it from.  If they won't exchange it, then call Sony.  I suggest going to the store first because most stores will just exchange the PS3...then you will have a new PS3 the same day.  If you have to call Sony, it make be a week or more before you get a new PS3.
