check the cable you are using, then check TV settings for noise reduction or contrast enhancement and turn both of them off. If not that, get another HD cable, HDMI if your TV supports it.

You have to look for those which are gold plated, like this one.

Most experts disagree. Only when an HDMI cable goes over 30 feet does the quality of the cable have an impact on picture quality. Digital cables (like HDMI) either have a signal or they don't. I'd suggest finding one on Amazon for a few bucks or pick one up at wal-mart for around $20.

edit~what's really funny about the whole "gold plated" idea on HDMI cables is that if you look in the pic provided, the "gold plated" part doesn't even come in contact with the part of the cable to sends information  The difference between cheap and expensive cables is the quality of the insulation that runs along the wire, i.e, the more expensive wires have more insulation and thus lose less signal over distances of 30 feet.

It wouldn't hurt to rule out and HDMI problem. If that doesn't fix it, then you need to start looking at your tv. Does this problem occur with any of your other connections?

How do you have your ps3 connected to your TV? Is your ps3 the only connection you have that outputs 1080p?

I wouldn't think so, but honestly I'm not positive.
