Pros:
-Very durable and reliable
-Large range of games with to-be-amazing exclusives coming out (MGS4, FFXIII, LBP, GT5, etc)
-Free and ever-improving online
-Amazing value as it could replace your DVD player, CD player, PS2 (not 40GB), PS1, as well as bring new things into your home such as Blu-Ray and of course, PS3 games.
-Great exclusive developers such as Naughty Dog, Insomniac, and Team ICO at Sony's healm.
-Constant firmware updates make it the "future-proof" and ideal Blu-Ray player
-Amazing overall quality
-Great interface
-Many thrid party assessories are compattible
-Blue-Tooth tech
Cons:
-Either you get the semi-expensive 80GB, or the cheaper but not-playing-PS2-games 40GB.
-Doesn't have the same quality as XBL in terms of online.
-SIXAXIS motion controls are no where as good as the Wii (but is fairly good)
-Most multi-platform games end up looking not-as-good as the 360's games so far
-Web-browser can be a hassle
Thats good. Thanks. So the 80GB is the only one available now that plays PS2 games? I'll start saving up then. I'll try and get one when FFXIII comes out. nelfer320
That's right. The 80GB plays PS2 games.
I've never touched a PS3. I have always wanted one but I couldn't afford one. I have a 360 and a Wii. I love these systems. This is NOT a system war thread. I HAVE a Wii and a 360. I'm just wondering if I should get a PS3. I feel like getting a PS3 for Final Fantasy XIII, Versus XIII, Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm, and I never had a PS2 and I feel like playing Kingdom Hearts and God of War. Can anyone give me the pros and cons of the PS3? Also, does it get any issues when placing it in cramped spaces such as a cabinet?nelfer320
For more information, visit my Official PS3 FAQ Thread. It's linked in my sig, my blog header, and in duxup's stickied thread at the top of the PS3 forum board. Also, the 40GB is the only version without PS2 backwards compatibility.
I'm also considering purchasing a PS3 and have similar questions. Since I don't have either a PS3 or Xbox, my inquiries are dealing with which has the greater benefit? I'm leaning towards the PS3 and am pretty darn sure that's what I'm going to end up with. With that said, one question I do have after reading through the above posts is if the 60GB will also play PS2 games? I'm pretty sure it does, but would just like to clarify. (Might hit up Ebay for a used one this week). Thank you.
