My ps3 sits vertical on to of a shelf above my TV. nothing over head and is not surrounded by much. However whenever I am using it, (a DVD movie or a game), the fans go on full speed and are really loud. I sent my first PS3 back and got it repaired so this is the repaired or refurbished model. I have even left it off for like a good 10-12 hours, and still no change.

Anyone else have this problem before and have any idea how to resolve it?

Thanks in advance.

Are the fans kicking straight in on switching your PS3 on?-Mine usually kick in after about 15mins use,and are noisier when watching a dvd or playing a game, but never so noisy that it distracts you.

*sigh* people over react over nothing these days...no offense. Its just the FAN. Why does it matter if its loud? Mine usually does that after a little while of using it; its just the system cooling itself. :| And just to get this straight...You sent in your first ps3 because the FANS were loud?
