I am currently looking to purchase a cheap second hand PS3 through EB games. It is a 80gb Fatboy, but i vaguely remember hearing a little while back about overheating issues with the older PS3s and the new software. Can anybody tell me if this was something that was fixed my Sony, or if the Fatboys are practically useless with the new updates? Thanks!

I strongly recommend a slim....I got my slim at launch and I have absolutely no issues while I hear those older models are nothing but problems

Yeah it's starting to sound more appealing. Probably worth forking out a few hundred dollars extra and having a problem free experience.

I paid $300 for my 320gb Uncharted 3 bundle. Slims are supposed to have less problems, so it may be worth it so you don't have to buy another console anytime soon.

Get a slim thats new as you don't know if the previous owner played it for thousands of hours or kept it in a tight space so it could be a time bomb waiting to die. And checkout my reivew @ http://uk.gamespot.com/forums/topic/29020323/my-3-part-ps3-review

I'd go for an original 60GB. That way you can play PS1 & PS2 games too, as well as run a dual OS if you want. I'm still rocking my launch day 60GB and it is still going strong, never had any problems ;)
