Hi all, in the browser on Ps3 it runs in 1080p, but when i launch a game it reverts back to 720p and i don't understand why, i've tested this on Uncharted Drake's Fortune and Blacksite Area 51 and both do the same, could anyone help me? on the back it show's these games support 1080p, Thanks!Kusimekaa
Uhhh, Uncharted does not support 1080p. Only 720p.
Hi guys, okay uncharted might not, but area 51 on the back defintley says it supports 1080p, and shouldn't it upscale 720p to 1080p anyway? i'm new to this kind of thing, thanks guys...Kusimekaa
It probably supports both but maybe the game tells the TV to run at 720p becuase it runs better?
if the game on the back of the box said it support 1080p/i then you need to turn off/uncheck 720p on your ps3 display setting...
Ya I have the same problem with COD4. I just figured like everyone else, it runs smoother and better on 720p. I would like to see COD4 on 1080p though. BayAreaBosss
if you have a tv that supports 1080p and the game box said it can go 1080p/i then you need to go to your ps3 display setting and uncheck the 720p...
you can do this with nba 2k7 also

you shouldnt need to uncheck it,the ps3 will automaticaly run games at the best setting, just tick all the boxes on the display settings providing your tv will allow 1080p[QUOTE="angrymouse"][QUOTE="BayAreaBosss"]Ya I have the same problem with COD4. hmmm, then why does blu ray automatically runs at 1080p? Because that's the optimal resolution...

Games that can upscale to 1080, like Rainbow 6, CoD4, AC, R&C, and Uncharted only run at that resolution if you uncheck 720p. Native games will automatically choose 1080p if its available.

ask the programers/coders/devs
the ps3 doesn't automatically chose what best resolution
