I bought said game today and when I try to start it I got a message saying that the games data is corrupt.

It further says that I have to delete the games data and turn the game on again. I tried to do this, but of course there was no data to delete since I have never owned the game before. It would not work. I went down to the store again and traded it in for another copy. Same message apperad and the game will not work.

I own a 60 G version from the day the PS3 got released. I have never had any problems with it before.

The person behind the desk said that these two were the last copys he had and that he had sold hundreds of them, but he had never heard anything like this before. I am therefor afraid it is my machine I am having problems with. Other games works all fine though.

Can any one help me?

I am afraid it is my machine and that the support guys will only shrug and scratch their heads. My son is truly sad now as he has looked forward for this game quite a while now.

call sony. if there is something wrong with the system and it's still under warranty, it gets replaced.

It sure is under warranty, but can I get hold of a 60 Gig with backward compability anymore? A replacement would suck nevertheless because of all the pictures and music I have stored on the hdd.

as a computer consultant, my first advice: never, ever keep just one copy of that type of stuff. especially if it's not on an actual computer. it'd suck not getting a 60 GB replacement, i agree. but wouldn't it be worse to have a ps3 that doesn't work at all?

You may be in some luck. My system stopped reading disk near the end of july and its a 60 gig with bc. I sent it in (warranty ended 8/21 lucky) and they sent me it right back after a week. Hopefully they can do it for you too.

I hate to say this but why don't you set the machine on fire while you're at it. Why does everyone panic before using a little common sense. I had the same thing happen to me and I have the same unit. You're looking in the wrong spot. The moment you put the disk in, it read some data and started to create a file. It's there, trust me, you just don't know where to look. Delete it and try again.

you are quite correct my good man. One of my boys had tried to start the game before I entered the living room without my knowing so. A file were created and it messed up the game. The file got deleted and now it is working just fine. Thank you for the tip.
