Turn it off and then back on.Â
i was having the same problem, my PS3 wouldn't see my router anymore and every time I would try to connect to it it would make my router act funny (like disconnect from the internet). It took about 5 router resets before things started working again and I hope it stays that way (knocks on wood, :P ). I have a LinkSys router (don't know the model). That's all I know. All I can say is just keep reseting things and see if they start working again. I wonder if this has something to do with the media server thing
Linksys here to and i have the same prob.. it's as if my router keeps turning itself on and off when i have the PS3 hooked up... started as soon as i got the update, glad to know its not my router thats broke seeing other people have the problem, but we need to find away to fix this...
I would keep tring to reset till it works but it seems to do that on its own when i hook up the ps3... any1 know if there are any ports that need tobe opened because of the media servers?
yeah, i just came to the same conclusion... now we just need a fix to get the media servers to work...
So now we have:
-DISABLE media server connection in network settings
...
gekidami
hmm... my routers working now and I still have the Media Server enabled... like I said, I didn't change anything on my PS3 I just reset my router about 5 times and it started working... but I'll remember that for the future if it starts acting up againÂ
yeah, sorry I forgot to mention the port thing too. If you look under the media player's help file it tells you what ports you need to have open to use the media server and I opened all of those on my router (the DMZ is another option :P ). I too had no new luck.
Here are the port numbers and protocols if anybody else wants to give it a go, but it seems for the most part this isn't the issue:
Â
Hey guys, can someone break this down in Stupid guy terms...for me lolÂ
Â
Ok i believe i had the same issue, I issued the 1.8 update, I have a Linksys Wireless router as well,
It kept signing me out of my Psn acct, so i came here, i read this thread,
I go to my PS3 and i disabled under Network settings, my Media connection....
Ok now for my question, and i need this in simple.. stupid guy terms.. pleeease lolÂ
Â
Ok I have 1 port lit on my Linksys router, for my internet, USUALLY before.. when i went online with my PS3, PORT 2 was lit....
Â
Now im online with my PS3, but PORT 2 isnt lit....  Im confused?? am i still having the issues you all were talking about or am i good?? or is the Wirless router still not recognizing since PORT 2 isnt lit... if this is the case... HOW DO I RESET MY CONNECTION.... no clue.. im lost LOL
Â
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, considering im new to all this wireless stuffÂ
well stupid man terms for the problem we're having is:
"The PS3's latests patch is messed up, the new Media Servers that lets you take videos, images and music from your PC to put them on your PS3 makes your Router crash, taking everything connected to it offline as it resets itself, turn it off in the network options to fix the problem, though Media Servers wont work anymore... Right now theres no solution other then to wait and see what sony has to say"
Your new problem(because it seems you did have the same problem till you disabled media servers) seems tobe something else, nothing todo with what we're talking about... if not having a visual aid telling you whats pluged where is really bothering you then try resetting your Router(or just unpluging it and repluging it), or doing the connection setup again (select easy so you dont have to bust your balls) seeing as your PS3 can connect it dosnt seem like that big a problem really...
that and the RGB FULL range setting not saving!

true! Also whats up with the media servers. It sees the content but refuses to access it. Also it seems that ALL of my music is unsupported im dealing with mp3s. That and i can't get UPnP available on my ps3
Nonsense!

Thanks, Really the only problem i can see is that when im on my PS3 online, my PORT 2 isnt lit like it used to be, but it works fine... I was just playing resistance... who knows... Â
Thanks Though Appreciate you taking the timeÂ

Are you sure this works?
So is this only an issue for people with a wireless connection?? I have it hooked up to a modem via ethernet cable, but I'm not gonna download the update if its gonna go screwy on me.willsoonbegone
Â
i have a wired connection, but it runs through my linksys router and i still have trouble
I hope they fix this with the next updateBabeBro
Next update?! this bug is way to major for Sony to wait
Â
About the ports: They dont solve the problem, they're just the ports that your router should have opened to let your PS3 connect with your PC properly, though seeing as for you, and most people in this thread cant use the feature they're not all that importent right now...
Â
And i have 1 more question; Any with this problem NOT using a Linksys router?

yea i can do without it, but it would be cool if it did work.
This Message is for anyone having network trouble with the new Playstation 3 1.80 update.
In order to use some of the new network features, the PS3 now requires more open ports. It seems on most routers upnp almost never works after installing the update, and you get a nat 3 rating. You can either go into your PS3 options and disable the Media Server connection, your PS3 should connect to the PSnetwork and Internet now, but you will not be able to use any of the new network features. Or, if you would like to be able to use all the new network features, you can open all the old required ports(these worked before the update without using port forwarding, and having upnp enabled), and open all the new required ports on the port forwarding settings on your router. If you use port forwarding you must disable upnp in your PS3 settings. all of these ports should be open: 80tcp , 443tcp , 5223tcp , 3478udp , 3479udp , 3658udp , 4658udp , 1900udp , 2869tcp , 10243 , 10280-10284udp .   everything should now work perfectly. hopefully sony releases a patch to fix upnp. read this so you can actually get online to download it.

Can any1 tell us how you go about putting these ports in on a Linksys WRT54G...? there arnt that many ports spaces in the routers port range forwarding menu...
SO GLAD to see others having probs, as sick as that sounds :)Couple fixes possibly, has anyone tried possibly restoring factory settings and then installing the 1.8??Also, let's take a poll of the router, i have a WRT54G which i've seen A LOT of others here have as well.Let's figure this crap out, because i was going crazy last night when all my IP's were going bonkersTeebee1

What version of the router do you have?? Maybe we all just need to upgrade firmware or something??for any doubts on how to open ports, go to www.portforward.com there is a full list of routers in that page.

cheers

ps, i havent had any problems with my router/connection after the update, now im going to open all those ports to see if the media server thing worksÂ
I dont really see how www.portforward.com can help me on this, 1st off my router; isnt technicly on the list (dosnt have V7), and on the list of applications is dosnt have the PS3...
Can some1 tell me what exactly to put for the 'Start' and 'End' port ranges to open those ports...?
Same problem here... had to reset router and disable Media Server to get back on the network. I have the WRT54G version 6. Updated the router to the latest firmware; still nogo. Anyone know if Sony is aware/acknowledging the problem?vangoExactly the type I have, i upgraded the firmware yesterday as well but no dice, gotta be something we are doing wrong, maybe disabling something in the router page but man, i'll be damned if i know what it is

I did what you said however the internet connection still reads UPnP as unavailable and when I scan the connection to the internet is dropped. Thanks for the advice but I think I'll just wait till the next update or patch that should fix this as it seems to be a widespread problemÂ
