what type do i need

does it matter if its male to male,male to female, etc.

it depends on your tv connections, a good place to go would be www.monoprice.com

I guess I was a little too late posting, but the male to male cost around $4-5, depending on what type u get and where u reside at.

just get the cheapest you can find. i got mine for $2.50. for TV hookup you would want male to male. i think female hdmi refers to dvi.

if you want the best cable available for blu-rays and just to make sure your games look thier best, you need the monster 1000 series cable.

Anyone who suggests an expensive HDMI cable is a moron and ultimately trying to rip you off. HDMI is not an analogue signal. Unless you're trying to run some cable from your front lawn all the way to the back yard and up the tree you shouldn't worry in the slightest. Pay $4.00 and enjoy. That monster cable crap is a joke and completely unnecessary for a digital signal. This goes for digital audio wires as well. This is like calling water "fresher" because it's got an evian lable on it.
