Help with Connecting to the Internet

I just got my PS3 today and I'm finding it hard to get my PS3 on the internet. The halls I'm staying in at the moment only allow you on the internet if you log in through a web browser. The way I got round this with the 360 was to enter the MAC address of my laptop, but it seems you can't do that on PS3.

I have tried using the web browser on the PS3 to connect but for some reason the only page that will load is the page to log in. It allows you to log in but then it can't display any other internet page. Anyone got any idea how I can sort this as I really want to sample the Playstation Network :(
