Help with Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer

Hi I am new to first person shooter games, and while I have done ok in Campaign mode, I have tried my luck at Multiplayer online, and mainly the everyman for himself, kill anyone.

However the moment I walk around I get shot by someone, I am flat out getting more than one kill, and thats if I just sit and hide in one place and wait for someone to walk past.

I want to ask some advice on how I can get more kills, is there any hint of where another player is hiding out ect ect ?

I love this game, and the online play is good, but way too many experts out there.

Any advice much appreciatted.

I didn't play it much, but I would say just play around with the maps and find all the good hiding spots for yourself. Then maybe get a friend or two and play some team deathmatch. It's a lot easier to play team deathmatch since there are people helping you and you don't have to worry about every single person trying to kill you :P

Try to unlock the heartbeat sensor. Believe me, it will help. Also noob tubes = cheap but effective.

Try Merc Team Deathmatch. You can't enter with a lobby of people. You won't have to worry about facing any clans.

Get some friends together and play private lobbies on levels until you're familiar with them.

Put on UAV. If you get a 3 kills streak then for about 20-30 sec(not sure the exact time) the enemy will appear on your radar.

Get used to looking at the radar often since any shots fired will be visible on it telling you where the enemy is.

If you shoot alot and see that your missing your target, put on a silencer. You won't show up as a red dot on the enemies radar when you shoot. The damage you do will be slightly less which you should keep in mind.

the more you play the game the better you'll get at it. i recommend you watch the kill cams so you can see where your enemies are and i also recommend you play sabotage, thats like one of the few game modes where you will respawn in the same area of the map every time so it will help you know from which direction the enemies are coming from. but honestly the more you play the game the better you will get at it. its that simple

Always look around for campers(the thing you do), and use your flash bangs and stuns alot.
