Hey guys, I'm just wondering if anyone can help me with my problem. I have wireless internet in my house and currently I'm using my computer on it in the same room as my PS3. My problem is that my PS3 doesnt even find the wireless signal while i get 78% signal strength on my comp. Anyone know how i can fix this problem? I have all the setting correct on the PS3.

Im having similar problems at the moment it worked fine this morning but now no connection at all. Im going to try resetting my router and modem, probably redo my ps3's network connection and see if that works.

Yea its up and running now, weak signal but thats due to the distance my ps3 is from my router. I gotta go turn on my range booster to get my 100% signal, it's at 45% right now.

You trying to say when you scan for your wireless connection, an error says "No connection found?" Try few of my steps, tell me if they work. Changing the wireless channel should be a first step to take, maybe setting it to channel 1 can make a difference? What you should do is, make sure to remove anything near the PS3 which may interfere with the wireless transmission away from the unit. Make sure you are not manually entering a ip address, entering false information will make the router reject you attempt to connect. One last thing, what router brand are you using, following with the model number? This will help me, and others on here to isolate the problem. =)

Without any sort of range booster, just remember a router only can reach up to 30 feet. Just wanted to point that out, incase you have forgotten. Try bring the PS3 close to the router, see if that works for you that way.

It might be your Wireless settings that the PS3 cannot recognize. (But I'm certain PS3 should be able to recognize the signal)

(Like stated above) Change the Channel for your wireless settings. Mine is on Channel 11 (There's like 3 wireless routers in my neighborhood that my computers picked up so I had to change the channel).

Change Security settings. Supposedly WPA2-PSK is the suggested best settings.

Have you tried doing a hard reset on the back of the router for 10 seconds? By any chance are you using WEP, if so change it this instant =P. You are better off using WPA2 for the PS3, if you are not using it already =P

I highly recommand you to have some sort of security, just in case of intruders you know? WPA would be your best option to protect your home network. If your router is capable on setting WPA and WPA2, then select that. Also, make sure to have AES and TKIP selected as well, just in case. WPA2 has a better wireless performance, than the WPA. WPA is mostly used for older devices that can not run on WPA2 interface. Just jotting down my 2 cents for you, hope you take my advice. I'm glad I was some help for you buddy, have a good one=).

Anymore questions, feel free to post.

Make sure you put a security on your wireless router..or you might get sued. (My friend didn't put a security on and someone in his neighborhood was downloading Warner Bros movies using my friend's unsecured wireless router and my friend received a letter from Warner Bros and Cox saying they'll file a lawsuit if he's accountable for downloading illegally. Of course, he didn't get sued but he put up his security option instantly) :P

By the way, I'm using channel 1 only because I found I had less air traffic error's, than the channel 6 and 11 I had set. :P

I don't have any security up but thats jus due to me living in the middle of no where. The closest person to me will have to have some kinda giant range booster to get a signal off me.

Are you sure all the setting are correct?

It doesn't recognize ANY wireless signals until the settings say wireless and not ethernet.

Otherwise, it will sit there, waiting for a cable to be plugged in.

Quick question because I'm like computer illiterate when it comes to this stuff. I set up my wireless network up about a year ago and haven't changed anything since. If I reset my router, would that mean I'd need to connect the router back to my pc in order to set it up again? Thanks.

Normally when you reset the router, factory settings is applied, therefore you will have to configure it. You can use the router as is, but you will be extremely vulnerable knowing you have no security. Let me also state that the the router will not function properly, just because setting up the router is required for best performance.
