don't worry, it's not only PS3 people that they do that to. Over on the 360 forum, there was a guy who said that he went to buy the Elite 360, and the clerk told him that he would have to re-buy all of his games over again because he had to buy the "Elite" versions of the games. the clerk told him that his games for the original 360s would not work in the Elite. the guy ended up re-buying the "Elite" version of R6V.

the guy who did the post was like, "I bet that guy just put that "Elite" sticker on the box when he saw me walk in the door. He must have thought I was stupid or something."
that was probably the most hilarious part of the entire thread.Â

Better yet, you could have said "That game was so short I've already beaten and it's not even out yet."Â Of course, we didn't know that until a day after it released.
the employees should just let people buy what they want seriously i have heard stories about employees dissing the PS3 but if i was a working for Gamestop i would inform the people of both systems even though i dont like 360. i would tell them well the PS3 is more powerful but doesnt have any great games out right now but dont worry it will. 360 has mostly shooters so if ur mostly into shooters than i say go for it so if u want more choices than shooters i say PS3. my older brother has a 360 but the games are not that great on it. not much into first person shooters. plus i dont like the new trend of making horror games into first person shooters it seems that has been the cause since F.E.A.R. just doesnt feel the same. namcoman67
I feel that horror genre games should be first-person. To me, it make me feel like I am more into the game. I've played FEAR, and it scared the daylights out of me on a number of occassions. I don't think that would have happened if it was a third person shooter or a hack-and-slash game.Â
I have read numerous stories about biased Gamestop employees and I didnt care about them until I experienced it myself. I was at my local Gamestop pre-ordering Ninja Giden Sigma, when the clerk tells me that I wasted my money buying a PS3. He also said that games like Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy 13 are coming to Xbox360. I told him they r exclusive and he kept saying it was already announced that the exclusives are coming to 360. MGS 4 and Final Fantasy 13 are PS3 exclusives, so GAMESTOP employees GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT!!AgentZero225okay, i work for ebgames, but its the same thing now. i personally own a ps3 and i know the facts about alot of the stuff going on in the industry. yes i will admit there are some people that aren't right about their facts. they like to spread dumb rumors.

i have come to realize that the people at EB are far nicer than those that work at Gamestop
i would say about 90% of the employees at Gamestop are jerks and about 40% of EB are jerks
i have been to 9 Gamestops and only one has had knowledgeable employees and we not being biased jerks
i've been to 6 EB's in my area and 4 of the stores were good and helpful with everything

tell me about it. when every i call the gamestop across town to see they have a game for a customer, they always are being a jerk to me, a fellow employee! trust me, i know that the gamestop corp. is a little messed up.EB and GameStop are one company. I work at an EB and all my coworkers are really cool. We won't spread BS about anything. It's kind of funny when people come in and ask about the 360 and the PS3. I lean towards the PS3 while my coworker lean towards the 360. It's almost like a conscience battle for the customer. But we do not diss the consoles. We just tell people the pros and cons, no BS.
My store is in Huntington Beach in California, by the way.Â
lucky, a lot of my co-workers are biased to xbox 360. i have to back the ps3 and 360. i love both equally. oh, a lot of the gamestop and eb employees have NEVER played the ps3.EB and GameStop are one company. I'm the only one in my store who owns a PS3. But I'm glad I'm working with level-headed people. They don't diss on any console. Where's your store, by the way?
well guy a new GS store opened up in my neighborhood last week and i am think about applying for a job there this summer. So if i get lucky and get a job there, ill fill all of you in on what really happens there.Rockman999
LOL i'll look forward to reading about all the BS u see there...Â
And I thought that my town was alone in this. All but one of the GS's around my area have given me poor service. Just a couple of weeks ago I went in to by God of War 2 and was talking to the clerk about my intentions to buy a ps3. He almost called me stupid right there. After defending my decision for a couple of minutes, I walked out of the store determined never to go there again.
But then last weekend when I bought my ps3, I went to the store I like and it was almost the same scenario. The guy behind the counter asked if I wanted a warranty (sp?) saying sony products are often defective. When I told him I had two ps2's (one's my roomates) for five plus years without a problem, he looked at me like I was dumb. I know they're trying to make sales, but I ain't gonna pay an extra 69 bucks for a warranty when Sony would replace the thing anyways.Â
I don't know, it's weird. I have always liked Gamestop until recently. What is it about this gaming generation that is making so many people, even the retailers, fall into categories rather accepting each system for what it is, as well as others for their choice in gaming machine? (now that's a run on sentence.)
I work at GameStop and give my honest opinion since I own all 3. Overall, people prefer Wii or 360, there isn't much interest in PS3 and I can't back it up even when I own one. I tell everyone to give it a year then we'll see what's up for all 3 systems, until then, do as you wish. I have sold a few to the ones who have asked about it and I gave them the whole rundown on the system and it's awesome potential. Every single person that was interested bought one after I told them everything about it (funny how many people are clueless about it's power and extras).
Â
And no, we get nothing for pushing anything, we just get paid.Â
I can't believe some of the crazy stuff some of you people are putting on here. First of all to the original poster, how about telling your story and refering to the bad instance you had, not the entire nation of GameStop employees. The store I work at is particularly good at pointing out the goods and bads to each system, and helping people identify which system would better suit them. I personally own a PS3, but that doesn't mean the next guy should. Or shouldn't. Same goes for every other system in the entire world. And then someone was putting somethin' about Wendy's and Whoppers and being stupid at the register...and then someone was giving out apparently very accurate statistics as to exactly how many GameStops and EBs are ignorant or whatever. And whoever said that thing about the Zune...that's a ridiculous story, some stores don't sell Zunes anymore. Yes I know some employees truly don't know what they're doing...but others do. So if you HAVE to tell your "stupid-GS-employee" story (just like everybody else on here apparently), let's keep it to that employee(s).jlabadie88
Not really sure what the problem is. The whopper comment I thought was quite accurate. If I go into a Burger King (let's get the store right) and order a Whopper, I don't want the dude behind the counter telling me that I'm making a horrible choice and should buy a chicken sandwich instead. This is exactly what has happened to me at Gamestop recently. I didn't go in looking for suggestions, I made a choice and was told my choice (which is still mine darnet, this is still a free country) was wrong. If I were asking for suggestions, that's one thing, but again, I was not. To berate your customers and their choices of purchase while their buying them is just poor business. For it to be happening in so many stored across the country is odd, especially being that the goal for these places is to make sales, not to annoy people who want to buy from them.Â
I am not by any means saying that all Gamestop employees are worthless or poor at their job. I was merely commenting on the fact that in the last month I have recieved poor service. Being that I have always been happy with Gamestop it is somewhat disenheartening to see the sudden change. Not only that, I think it is important for people to express their problems with game retailers. After all, we are limited to who we as gamers can buy from that actually know what their talking about. If we find that the trend with these stores is to have ignorant or poorly trained employees, then there is no reason to use Gamestop over Toy's R Us, Walmart, K-Mart, Target, or online purchasing.
I went into a Gamestop one time to ask about buying a PS3. I told him I wanted to get it because of MGS4 and other games. He said, "oh you dont need a PS3 to play MGS4, its coming out on the 360 as well.". He said a representative from Sony came in to tell them that. I asked to preorder the 360 version then. (decided to humor him) and he said. "well since its no toffical yet, we cant take preorders for the 360 version yet."
Â

 Hahahahaha owned.
At my local EB there are three employees that I have seen there and they are all very different. There is one who is a complete jerk to everyone not biased to a system just a jerk, someone who knows NOTHING about games she always has to get another employee if someone asks about a game, and the person who helps everyone. I don't bother with the first two that I mentioned.
You guys all seem to be far more patient than I will ever be. I went in to buy a sixaxis and resistance, and the guy at GS had the nerve to tell me I was wasting my money and that I should not have bought a ps3. I could've walked out, or defended my opinion and argued with him, but I had to set the guy straight :-P plus, something about him bothered me anyway. I believe the line that followed was somewhere along the lines of (close your eyes, kids): "Listen **** I didn't ask for your opinion, do what you're paid to do and get the **** game." There were probably another 3 customerse in there, and his co-worker. His co-worker stood there for a second contemplating running to get the manager or security or something, he thought I was gonna jump over the counter or something. He was scared **** It was great. He just turned around got the game, the look on his face was that of a little kid that just got his hand slapped for reaching into the cookie jar.
Regardless of his opinion, it really is not his job to discuss my decision with me. He is not some sort of game analyst, he's a cashier, and I expect nothing more than, "will that be all sir?" and "good day sir" from these people. I am not usually a jerk like that, and I was really just talking tough, but it got the point across. Maybe I was mean, whatever. I know he won't be doing that again though.
Well you know, here in the real world, there is a chance that you are gonna get terrible customer service anywhere you go. Just ask Home Depot, who was the subject of some media bashing recently for bad customer service. One person on here talked about of nine stores in his town, only one had good customer service. Well...go to that store. We have five stores in this town, and I have shopped them all. But it seems like I get the best service at one particular store, so I go out of my way just to go to that one.
I have had really only one complaint (but I never bought my PS3 from either Gamestop or EB Games). I felt like I kinda got the run around about the launch availibilty of Guitar Hero II for the 360, but hey, that is water under the bridge. I still continue to patronize the store. And remember, not everyone that works does the job they love...they do the job cause they have too.
