those articles make me feel happy that ive bought a PS3.
It's very true too. Its the first ttime a video format is being decided by videogames (PS3). You will see lots of threads in system wars forum saying the PS3 is a flop or its already dead. So not true and far from it!! Within its first year of release i think the console istaking some perty big steps forward.
Now i am going to post that N4G article in system wars to shut upsome fanboys,if you already haven't.:P
i like seeing what they say after they have been owned:)
Great news but not unexpected. The superior machine is just chugging along to the finish line. With Blu-Ray being accepted by blockbuster as the heir apparent for HD format wars. Its only a matter of time before the other vendors do the same. Target,Wal mart,Hollywood video and Suncoast chains will be saying the same thing in the upcoming months. I can't wait to see pixar films in Blu-Ray and with Disney on board and now owning Pixar that's a done deal.
Sony has always been a leader while others have just copied the work of others. Who made most of the francises like Devil May cry, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy and even Eye toy famous. Sony did. When Resident Evil went to Nintendo exclusively Capcom found that it undersold and the moment that deal was over they came straight back to Playstation.
A price drop to $450 would create a surge in the market in PS3 sales. It would make the Blu-Ray bargain hunters even more inclined to get a PS3.
[QUOTE="Thomas-Crown"]Interesting articles. wizdom
Just because the Blue Ray is out selling the 360 doesn't mean PS3 is going to win, the other article was so bias I really don't want to get into it.
I agree that claiming that BluRay's success=PS3 ftw is a bit of a jump but I think it will help quite a bit. As more people buy BR players, drives, and media, companies will be able to make their factories more cost effecient. Also, the supplies associated there in will also become cheaper. Both will help Sony tremendously as it's the BR portion of the system that really ratchets up the price. If Sony starts getting these things cheaper, they can charge less, dropping it into a more competitive price bracket. Again, that doesn't secure Sony's win, but it will certainly help them in the bigger picture. Also, as the mass market starts seeing BR Movies in more places more often, they may start to reconsider that particular strength of the system. That's my theory at least.
The success of the Blu-ray ABSOLUTELY has to do with the success of the PS3. The first article spells it out. When it comes to dedicated players, HD-DVD has actually sold more. Thats when ur counting players alone and not PS3's. But then when u do count PS3 sales, and the sales of which format DVD was selling more (in this case it was blue ray for about 37$million compared to the 53$ High Def media format sales total) and you can see why retailers are now siding with Blu-Ray. In essence it converts to sales for the PS3 because the PS3 offers all the features that the latest players offer but at a price that is ne where from 200-400$ cheaper then the average Blu-Ray player.
