As far as your HDD its just like your PC sure its 80gb but it comes loaded with stuff already so thats whats taking up those few GB of space. XMB and other stuff, to take care of it i just keep mine out in the open so it can get air all around and vent as much as possilbe dont put it in some cabinet of cubby hole. I dont usually turn my off all the way just keep it on standby but i am sure it wont hurt it at all if you feel thats what you want to do. Enjoy it, i love mine in fact i just bought an 80 gb for my bedroom and i already own the 60gb. ( My wife likes to play online with me thats why i have 2)

You have to place the machine min. 10 cm open on each side. Try to put it on a high place to prevent spilling something on it. (believe me that happens) I often switch it all the way off when I'm done playing. Don't switch it from the back if you get freezes (especially when you play COD4 online) use the switch on the front panel. Well those are the first things that I can think of. Enjoy your gaming. Great games are on our way
