"Series creator still won't say if he's going to be working on it."It won't be long before we know what's next for the Metal Gear franchise.

Speaking to a fan-packed audience at the Apple store in San Francisco, series creator Hideo Kojima addressed a tease about the next Metal Gear featured at the end of this Thursday's keynote.

"I can't really speak specifically right now," he told Gametrailers TV host Geoff Keighly during a moderated question and answer session this afternoon. "I can say right now is maybe we can do some announcement during E3."

Does that mean Kojima is going back on his previous statements that he's moving away from the franchise? Historically, after he completes a new Metal Gear game, Kojima has told gamers and the press he wants to leave the franchise in someone else's hands. The last few games, however, he's gone back on that promise.

"I can't say anything about that, either," he said. "I'm a little jetlagged, though, so excuse me for that. [laughs]"

In just a few months, though, we should know more.

Well after reading his awesome keynote at GDC about the steps that were taken to create each Metal Gear in the series and how he wants the next Metal Gear to combine everything from all the 20 years of experience he had with the series, seems like Hideo Kojima just can't let Metal Gear go like that, he wants to move the stealth genre to the next level and I think his involvement should be MANDATORY for this kind of mission which is the "The NEXT MGS".

Am much as I would love MGS5 I think its to early, I have feeling that the MGS Kojima will showcase at E3 is gonna be spin-off and not really the proper MGS5. I might be wrong though. The new MGS will probably have Raiden as a playable character since you can see a pic of him on the presentation Kojima showed at GDC. Wont it be great if its not a conventional MGS title but an action one using Raiden ninja skills, and of course some stealth elements as well.

According to his keynote, what's coming next in the Metal Gear franchise is a combination of all 20 years of experience he had with Metal Gear. He wants to make the impossible possible which means enhance the quality of the next MGS to a level that no other game reached including MGS4. How to perfect the quality of the game? What are the resources required to do so?

I'll have to ask you a question:

Will Kojima Sacrifice Quality For Multiplatform?

It's never early when it comes to the next MGS. MGS games take up to 3 years of development so NO it's not early.

MGS5 for E3, that's definately what it is. I mean, he said MGS2 would be hs last MGS game and then he said it about 3 and 4. I wouldn't expect a release until Q4 2010 at the earlist.

forget it. Check out the GameTrailers interview with Hideo Kojima at GDC, he clearly states that MGS was always PLAYSTATION material and will always be. He said it depends which project he is working on and that will decide whether he will go multiplatform or not but as far as Metal Gear goes, PLAYSTATION is his aim.

i dont think it will take that short time to make the game becuase they ofcourse have to make this better then mgs4 and it took them 2 years to do it so mgs5 will maybe take as long time as killzone 2 took to come

They started to think about MGS4 ever since they released MGS3. It's a 4 years of hard work and not 2 years. Not only they want to make MGS5 better than MGS4, Kojima clearly stated that he wants to take the stealth genre to the next level using everything he learned from the past 20 years of developing Metal Gear. He said that they can push the PS3 power even higher now that they know how to develop games on it. Let me put it for you this way, they TESTED the PS3 with MGS4, what's coming next is BIGGER and alot better. MGS5 should be the ultimate Metal Gear to destroy anything any developer wanted to do. Go review the keynote, HIDEO KOJIMA wants to make the IMPOSSIBLE, POSSIBLE!

I dont think the next MGS is gonna take as long as MGS4 to be released. Remember MGS4 was Kojima's first PS3 game so he had to also overcome hurdles of the new system and learn its architecture well. Now Kojima knows exactly what the PS3 is capable off so its not really about learning understanding the PS3 then creating the game like MGS4, this time he will just concentrate on how to make the next MGS game better. I expect MGS? to arrive late 2010.

2010 is like a year from now man which is quite impossible for an MGS game. Like I said, 3 years at best.

I'm actually fine with someone else taking over. If he really is tired, then let him trust someone else to head the project. He can take a role from his very own storyline and act like "a Patriot" occasionally watching over what's happening and just making most of the major decisions. Solid Snake is dead right? He made sure of that. Nothing can be harmed with a new storyline.

I'm probably in the minority here but I want Kojima to stop making MGS games. I'd like a director with a new vision. One that involves less cutscenes among other things

First off, Solid Snake is not dead... Have you finished MGS4? Second off, if there is an MGS5, I will be sooooooooooo angry. MGS4 was THE perfect way to end the series. They should not make another one, then it would just seem like milking the franchise.

Yes but now they understand the hardware even more which lets them create the game because they are used to it.

not only do they know how to develop on the PS3, but now i think it was pioneer that made a 250? GB Blu-Ray disc (Not sure how many GB, but even if it was 100 GB, Kojima would have a field day with the amount of content he can add to the game). With that said there would be no reason to port it to 360, unless use multiple discs. Even that would still make MGS5 limited if it was ported. Kojima shouldn't make the same mistake as Rockstar did with GTAIV which was such an upset to me.

Wow I thought you guys were gone... Yes there were a lot of cutscenes. But the cutscenes were AMAZING! Probably because you had no idea what was going on, you thought they were long.

i hope not i think mgs4 was just milking the franchise and just ruins his cred and principles. mgs3 is the best in the series and in my opinion a great game story aside (always found mgs stories to be a bit to convaluted and generic) the gameplay was brilliant though. mgs4 stripped down the gameplay made it a bit more accessible but lost alot of the little things that made ms3 feel so immersive plus all the boss fight felt to much like cheap versions of most of the mgs3 bosses which were some of the best boss battles in a game period. to me mgs4 was a step back so i hope he doesn't go back to the series at all and just leaves it as is cause at this point he can only muck things up.

I'm dissapointed, they should not make MGS5, they said MGS4 would be the last one. I wouldn't want to play as someone other than Snake and I wouldn't want to feel like a tacked on story or something like that.

This is good and bad news all at the same time for me.

For good, I love MGS, for bad... I don't wanna see the series Milked like so many others. I just hope it's not a numbered MGS to be honest. I'm actually hoping for a remake of the original Metal Gear. Either way I'll buy and most likely enjoy it.
