Holy Jinkies! Halo was once part of Sony's games?!

Halo : Combat Evolved.

A sci-fi shooter that takes place on a mysterious alien ring world, Halo: Combat Evolved is an action-packed experience that allows players to battle their enemies on foot and in vehicles with alien and human weaponry. The production of Halo has a long and tumultuous history. The title was originally designed as a breakthrough game for Apple's Mac systems, and console versions of the game also became a high-priority project for the development team when it signed with Take-Two. As all PlayStation 2 owners are aware, however, production on Halo was shifted immediately to an Xbox version in 2000 when Take-Two Interactive sold its 20% share of developer Bungie to Microsoft. Thereby solidifying Halo's position as an Xbox and PC exclusive (with a Mac port much, much later on) forever.

I'm not a fan of FPS's in general, so I could less careless what FPS game one system does/doesn't have.

Look, if Halo was originally released on the Ps2 before MS stepped in, then it would've been just another shooter.

Back in those days, Ps2 owners were playing a variety of genres. Halo went on to suceed on the Box due to system link and later, Live.

At the time, Ps2 didn't have a dedicated Online service much, so the game wouldn't have sold much units. It would've been overshadowed by the true HEavy Hitters of that era.

In addition, Sony wouldn't advertise a game like that (originally an RTS, also Third Person shooter), because they didn't have a Huge wallet like MS.

Ultimately, Halo would've failed to deliver. But luckily, MS swooped in acquiring the publishing rights, and formatting it into the Legend it is today.

I'm sorry but in the end the Halo games are all overshadowed by their marketing campaigns, Microsoft did the same to Gears of War. When you think about Halo 3 in 5 years time are you going to remeber the game, or all the fuss there was about it.

Yes True Halo is not original. Yet again it was stolen from MAC via Microsoft. But thats normal for them lol. TRUE!

But the fact is Halo is over hyped. Why well RE 4 was rated higher. No one goes friking nuts over that game. The last two Zelda games were both much better games than Halo. Still no one overacts thows. Even a few FPS have been rated along side of Halo as equal. yet again no one goes ape sh over those. Halo is overrated in the sense that many games are its equal. But no one goes crazy over those equals. Because those games are on systems that people play many other games on also. Its nothing special to play Halo, I played and own the first 2. I played GTA, Zeldas, and MGS's much more. And I will admit thatplaying Zelda, MGS 1, 2 and I loved 3. Now their was something kinda special about playing those.

Halo is a game for the jock "which I am"or cool kids in school, who never played anything but madden/sports games. Bought a Xbox, and found out what a FPS was, and went nuts. Thus they thought they became a gamer. And also thought that game was that good. Eclipse83Lives

If it was a PS3 exclusive, I'd still think it's overhyped. I'd rent it and give it a chance, but thats about it. even if I owned a 360 I'd still rent it. Halo and FPS's in general really don't thrill me, then again, I suck pretty bad at them too :oops:

Seriously, even if Halo would've come out on the PS2, I wouldn't have bought it. I still could've bought it for the PC, didn't do that either. Amazingly, this game simply doesn't appel to me.

I tried checking out Wikipedia (not a good site), and it makes no mention of a Ps2 version in the so-called making. Although, the Mac was mentioned.

Wow... this is kinda old.

Here are a few other things you might not know as well...

1. Munches Oddessey... was originally for PS2, but went to Xbox because of better graphics and power for their vision.

2. Heavenly Sword... was originally for Xbox, but went to PS3 because of better graphics and power for their vision.

It is good to see a pic of what Halo was going to look like for PS2 though...
