I just checked my e-mail and it seems Sony sent me a code for the beta. I think it is from that Home Beta XMB theme from July. Anyways, anyone else think it kinda sucks? It just seems pointless and there is so little customization. Is that just because it is a beta? Anyways, I don't see myself using this application at all in the future. I "played" it for about 30 mins and I don't think I will ever touch it again. Sure it looks great, runs super smooth, and is great in concept but it just doesn't work. If it was integreated with the Playstation Store and Playstation Network, then cool, but being it is a separate application it is lame. Why would I just boot up Home and walk around talking instead of playing a game? It is stupid, I am sorry. After all the hype, delays, and rabid Sony fanboys I am dissapointed.
You've obviously never been a beta tester before am I correct?
The whole point in beta testing is to work out any bugs the people who are invited to test the beta out find while spending time with the beta. Obviously there is going minimal customization right now cause it's only a beta
No I have been in a ton of betas before, Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, Resistance 2, Metal Gear Online, and Socom: Confronatation. Like, I said before I see no bugs and I figuered the limited customization was a beta thing but that is not what annoys me the most, it is the whole "point" of Home. I just don't get it, I don't see any value or purpose for it too even exist. I bought a PS3 to watch Bluray movies and play sick games like Resistance and Metal Gear not walk around in a virtual world. Anyways, that is just me I think it is pointless. I am just curious to see if others feel the same way. Maybe it is because I am a casual gamer and not real hardcore, I don't know.
No dude i totally agree with you, but my point was since it was a beta your not going to be able to do the things you want as far as connecting to PSN or do anything with the trophies until the completed version comes out. But I'm sure there are others that feel your frustration as far as walking around aimlessly doing jack. I was psyched when I first heard about Home but since the delays and whatnot, it's kinda dulled my enthusiasm, excitment and expetations for it. I'm digging the new look for the 360, with the avatars etc., but with everyone saying that Sony should go along with what Microsoft and revamp the XMB is kind of irritating. If it's not broken why fix it, right?
go play the arcade games in there or something. go bowling or play pool. what do you expect from it? it's just to meet people, watch stuff, and launch into games together. xD there should more customization stuff later. so much complaining for something that will be free
The beta is missing a **** load of features. You may have noticed how there are NOTHING at the store, NOTHING to change your house with, and not much to change your character with. Its just the beta and they are looking to fix some small bugs and im guessing testing servers.
It's a beta what can you expect. I thought it was pretty interesting since I've met new people and have made friends with them. Besides everyone knows it's not a game but more of a social network.
Beta or not, I would expect with all of the hype that it would at least be compelling. But it isn't. Bowling isn't fun. Pool isn't fun. There's no chance of playing the arcade games since there's what? 100 people in that tiny space and only 10 games?

I think its an excellent concept, it brings PS3 users together. I think that is the one thing that sets the PS3 back from the 360, the fact that you are more connected and can easily communicate with friends and random people. With the PS3 as of right now you can play with people online, and most likely you wont ever communicate with them again. I really like how home can potentially make things more interesting, and it should help make more people go out and purchase a headset. Not only can you meet random people from across the world and ask them to play a game, home can be a great way to kill some time if your waiting for your friends to get on. I also think they should have game rooms for every game like I have seen they have made for far cry 2 and uncharted, I know I would always go into home to find some worthy challengers to play against.
