One word...BETA. What did you expect from it. Of coarse it's going to be lacking in options and activities. It's obvious they're trying to stablize the underlying infrastructure first before concentrating on the content. This is what a beta is for.caseystryker
This is no longer a typical BETA. They are now at Version 1.00. That is the version they are releasing to the public. However, someone else pointed out exactly what I wanted to say: This is a service and NOT a game. People would do better to understand that this is simply a place to socalize with others. Home will help you socialize by providing small things for you to talk over. What they are releasing to the public is an Open Beta, which will expand for years to come.
There are some creative ways to utilize Home if you look at it for what it really is. When they get the audio sharing part up and running, my band is looking to create a HOME CD Release party where people can hangout, listen to our entire album and request what songs they would like from us for free. (Not a plug, just telling you what I have in mind). I also look forward to creating an avatar that looks as close to the real me as possible, and furnishing my "Home" should be fun. (I know, I'm a geek) It's also really hard to find people to play chess in real life, so I look forward to that. Plus, just cause you're on HOME, doesn't mean you have to be in front of your screen. My band can now have it's conference calls through HOME. I can invite everyone to my house, talk via bluetooth, and I can continue cleaning my house while we discuss upcoming projects or cool games coming out.
This is all what I could think of on the fly. Again, it's not a game, it's a service. Use it as a tool, and you'll see there are many more things you can do with it. But, try to play it instead of Falout 3 or bioshock and you are bound to be disappointed ;)
