A tech question for everyone:

I've got a 5.1 surround sound system, a receiver for the sound system, and an hdtv. Planning to get the 40GB PStriple when it comes out.

If I use an HDMI cable to connect the PS3 to my TV, what do I use to connect my TV to my receiver?

There's usually an optical- or coax-output on the TV that lets you pass the sound through to the receiver...

I am using an optical cable. You can also hook up coax cables directly into your sound system. Just when you do go to your audio settings and choose what type of cable you are using for sound

I'm assuming your receiver doesn't have a HDMI slot on it, so optical is your best bet from your ps3 to your receiver.

I see a "coaxial out" plug-in slot but no "optical in" or "coaxial in" slot. Is that a problem?

My 360 is outputting sound right now through the red and white "audio in" slots.
