Hey,
I was wondering if there is any prefered way of placing a PS3 down, thats it really.
Hortizontal or Vertical (or it doesn't matter)
Thanks!

It doesnt matter. The ps3 isnt made like a piece of crap. People ask the best position for the other system because they want it to last as long as possible before getting the 3 lights or they are afraid if they knock it over that it will scratch their games. BTW I even tested the ps3 and gently shook it while it was playing a game. Just like the ps2 it is unfazed and just keeps chugging.crck
I have mine horizontal. It's on my TV rack and I don't want it vertical as 'cause if it got bumped, it could fall 4 feet.
I would think Vertical would be OK if you have it near the floor or where it can't get bumped.

Best way to place my PS3? Well that's gotta be horizontal coz I wouldn't be able to reach the disc drive if it was vertical. My PS3 is very high and I am not short (6', so that makes me an average size, right?), it's just the only place my PS3 fits. This topic is kinda weird y'know... Why would someone want to know the best way for my PS3? A little creepy, yet I answered. The_Great_Samu
Hey, at least you have the choice. With the Wii you can only have it vertical.ball_of_air
I've got my Wii horizontal (on top of my 360, no less!) and it works fine. As for the PS3, definately horizontal. Not only do I find it more difficult to slip discs into a vertically aligned drive (it's me, I know), but I shudder to think of the damage that would come to the PS3, not to mention any pets/children, if it were to tip over and fall.
Well I have mine horizontal as although it's a thicker unit than the 360 I still fear it falling over!
Ade.
Hey, at least you have the choice. With the Wii you can only have it vertical.ball_of_airare you serious? See those four feet on the right side (if you're looking at it) of the Wii? Those aren't there for decoration, it's too put your seystem horizontal.
As for my PS3 if you have it vertical all the heat comes out directly from the top, just like it should.

And how can u say it built like a pice of crap? Unlike the 360 which runs as hot as a freakin nuclear reactor which is the cause of the red rings of death (Microsoft uses crappy soder which melts and thus u got the red rings). My Ps3 has nvr giving me a single problem but once where it froze in the online browser. but just looking for feed back not trying to insult u or anything...

There you go, broski. Talking about the 360, not the PS3. And, back on topic of the thread, horizontal all the way, I don't want it to fall over.
Horizontal, because I keep all my consoles on a row of shelves and that's just how it fits. Plus I don't have to worry about it getting bumped.
I like the slim ps3 to be vertical because I think it looks better and it saves me space. I highly suggest that people get the SONY slim ps3 stand though because it LOCKS on and stands much more firmly than the cheap stands. Even though slim ps3 stands without a stand, it easily tips over and I won't risk that.
I alwyas have placed my PS3 Horizontal. I have the Playstation 3 60GB (Which is supposedly prone to overheating) and the 120GB PS3 Slim. (Which supposedly doesn't get the YLOD)
Both still work perfectly and have not given me any trouble or died. So I would say place your PS3 Horizontal
