I only play fighting games casually (mostly Tekken, but sometimes Street Fighter and Soul Calibur), and I've never played a Guilty Gear game - they always struck me as for the hardcore only. But damn... BlazBlue looks amazing. Is it worth it though for someone who sucks at fighting games?

From what I've gathered so far, it's a lot more accessible than Guilty Gear. If you get the limited edition by grabbing a copy before July 28th, it comes with tutorial videos which really help you out with the basic and advance stuff. I'm going to be getting it today if all goes well. I'll might post a few impressions on the forums, and this is coming from someone who never played fighting games much, so the noob factor is definately there for me too. Sunrise can't come soon enough though :P

I'm in the same position as you pal. It looks great, I'm a fan of anime but I suck so bad at fighting games. If I'm backed into a corner, I'll button mash. I would cry, but I'd have the stuffing beaten out of me before I could try get to the next level if I ever bought this game.

That actually sounds a little intimidating. A fighting game that's so complex it needs a training video?

From the sounds of things the game seems to be 50/50. If you stick to it you will get use to it, but expect to loose when you first start playing, especially when you go against the 2D fighting addicts online.

Well I am pretty sure the game will still pose a challenge in some ways...Just wait till the 2D aficionados get their hands on the game.

It shouldn't be too bad.

Guilty Gear wasn't that hard to master and I'm not the greatest at fighting games, especially 2D ones. My strength lies in Soul Calibur, and Guilty Gear is completely different... besides, just have fun with it.

Guilty Gear wasn't ever punishingly unfair.

It was punishing, but it was fair, so you may enjoy BB more than you would GG.

The Medallions mode was just absolutely ridiculous, though...

Street fighter 4 had them whats the big deal? Those same trials in street fighter 4 made me understand the game and for the first time understand how to play a fighting game they way its supposed to be played. Id rather they had ingame tutorials rather than a video but its still very helpful.

I wonder if Tecmo will bring it to the PS3? The last DOA game on a Sony system was DOA2 and that was ages ago. DOA4 was awesome.

I hope the game is accessable because after playing Tekken on my PSP then playing Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX on it I got my ass handed to me by the computer, on the first stage, on normal difficulty O_o.

lol Street Fighter always had such cheap AI. Those are the only games that I always have to play on "easy" difficulty.

All I know about it is that the specials are mapped to the analog sticks, so you don't have to be a combo expert to throw a few fire balls. That actually makes it a bit too easy if you ask me. Well,.... unless the specials suck. :(

I picked up BB and I'm not a huge fighting game fanatic. It's not extremely difficult but if you want to fight online it may take some time to get familiar with the characters and their stratagies. It's really nothing like StreetFighter or Tekken IMO. I honestly feel a bit overwhelmed but will say the game plays fantastic, really smooth and responsive. Art is amazing. Again it's not overly difficult but seems to me that it's alot deeper than first appears to be.

I'd say the term 'easy to learn, hard to master' would be a good description of this game. Of course, there are some special attacks and combos that require a certain amount of finesse to pull off. You wont be able to pick it up and pull off a 20+ hit combo like you see in alot of the videos, but even a beginner can button mash and have fun with it. (though that wont get them far online)

I don't really play fighting games much either. The last one i bought was DragonBall Z Budokai 3 which was looooooong time ago, and the only fighting games I've played since was one day of Dead or Alive 4 around when it came out, one night of Street Fighter IV and Mortal Kombat vs. DC a few months ago, and random Super Smash Bros. Melee games throughout (and a little Brawl the day it came out), but I bought this because it looked amazing and it hasn't disappointed. I started the story mode on Normal and it's pretty fun so far. It hasn't been too hard for me. There are some special moves mapped to the right stick so that will definitely help out a lot at first. I'm still working on learning the combos though cause I doubt you can't use the easy-specials online. I haven't tried online yet because I know I'll get murdered. I'd say definitely get it though.

Well I havn't been able to spend a whole lot of time with it but if you fill the meter you can hit the right analog stick and pull off a special move. Although there are some that I think require more than that. I think it's just to make it accessable to everyone although I'm not totally sure. I do know you can do the moves other than using the right analog so if your going to use a fight stick you can still do the moves.

Sadly, this game wasn't even in my "awareness" radar until I saw Hazel's sig a few days ago. When the Gametrailers review came out, my interest went from 0 to literally 80%. How many games can brag about THAT? :P Anyways, the game looks like it will cater to all audiences. Different characters for different players. =)

Honestly I've felt the same way about it. I accidentally entered a thread about the IGN review and they gave it 94 ... and i was like WTF is this game. And then GT and 1UP both gave it 90+ and My interest just sky rocketed from having no idea what it is, to wanting to get my hands on it. Still need to learn more about the game, don't need a repeat of SCIV, or DMC4 or AC again. As in wasting money.

Why? It's not making the game any shallower at all... unless you have something against more people playing the game :P

I'm interested in this aswell, I always used to play fighting games when I was young but I wasn't very good. Then I played SCIV and was a master but then I sucked at Street Fighter IV so i'm guessing i'll suck at this to.

not for me nothing tops sf4 right now!! but this game is a let down for me all characters look wierd and i thought this was suppose to be 1080p native??? its not !!!! cmon devs this is a 2d fighting game and from playing it. it looks like they couldve done the 1080p oh well im hoping kof 12 is 1080p native! it makes a big diff. on my 52"
