So I was sitting in my room one day and was trying to think how am I going to pay for all these games coming out without killing myself. I looked in my entertainment center and saw a white brick full of dust.....the Wii. Wonder how much I can get for it.....called gamestop, got a reasonable price, took it in and got enough for Resistance 2, Gears of War 2 and Guitar Hero: World Tour (whole band set), plus an extra 20 bucks. Anyways I am now Wii-less because I had not touched it in months and was really keeping it for my gf cause she loved wii sports. But hell even she got tired of it. Nintendo has lost me but anyways on to the new games. I rented Dead Space, have had Little Big Planet paid off and got Socom for the headset. So here is my impressions on what I have played so far.
Dead Space: Amazing!! Wish I would of bought it but now to far into to it and figure I can just wait til it becomes a greatest hit or something. But man is this game a blast! I have not really been to scared but I am kind of hard to scare in the first place. I will say my gf couldn't watch it though. The gameplay is simple but done right. It is just like Resident Evil 4 except limbs come flying off and smart aiming could save your life. I mean that in is if something is charging at you and you can shoot off a leg or two, you bought yourself some precious seconds cause trust me those seconds matter when there is like four enemies in your face. The story is good enough to keep you interested. Its your typical we gotta be get off this ship before we die story but in no way is that a complaint. I have not finished the game yet but am close. About 2 more levels I think but so far I say this game would be a buy. The only gripe is sometimes the camera gets a little awkward when you get into close combat. Very small complaint but I died a few times cause of that. Also the loading time after you die. Way to long. Pretty much don't die cause you want to get back in that action quick but sometimes it takes up to 45 seconds to a minute to get back in. Overall, the game is awesome...buy it! 9/10
Little Big planet: When I started this game I couldn't keep a smile off my face. Its so much fun and you just want to keep seeing what are they gonna come up with next. How creative can Media Molecule get?? In short, very creative. They make a ship that can fly with your own controls, some awesome boss fights, and some of the best 2d level design I havent seen since the old NES days. The controls are a little tricky at times cause Sack Boy wants to go into the background or foreground when he wants but it is usually not a problem until the trick parts come up. The multiplayer is awesome. The game is the most fun played with more people. Especially when your all in the same room. Everyone is laughing and the good thing is mostly everyone can play. If you can play the old Mario Bros. you can play this game. Now the best part, the User created levels. This is what I was most excited for and was the main selling point to me. Some people out there have come up with some awesome level designs in the beta and they are still in the real game. The God of War level is amazing, some Batman themed levels, redone mario levels, and even new ones like escape from alcatraz or the world of colour. Those are my favorite so far and encourage everyone to try them. I know the servers went down because it was extremely laggy and unplayable for a few days but the single player kept me busy until they were ready. They are back online and I am having a blast. This game is unstoppable fun and will never seem to get old with new levels coming out everyday. Look for me out there my psn name iswowguytc and I am the sackboy that looks like Kratos! 10/10
Socom: Confrontation: I don't have much to say about this game because I haven't got the chance to play it to much. The reason for that was the horrible servers when I first got the game. They were patched and did work better a couple of days after I got it. When I did play it was a blast. I am new to Socom so it took me a couple of games to get used to the controls. But when I was actually playing a real game, this game was awesome! I am actually pretty good even at being a new guy to the game. The sound in the game is good, the graphics could be better but are still in no way bad. The point is when this game is working like it is supposed to it will be great. I just wish the stats would be recorded already because I want to see how much better I am getting and my k/d ratio. The headset is awesome. First bluetooth headset and think it is the best headset I have had for a video game console. My 360 ones just always seem to stop working. I am on my third one. But overall this game is going to be great, in its current state it just slightly good. 7/10
So there you go. I will be getting Resistance 2 when it comes out and reviewing that game after I had a week or so with it. I am very excited about that one and will probably be playing it until R3 comes out. Hope this helps yall if yall were trying to decide what game/games to buy or for a Christmas list.
