How bug-ridden is Fallout 3 on PS3?

I'm wondering whether or not to get F3 because of some of the bugs I've heard about. Can anyone who's actually got the game on PS3 tell me if there are lots of bugs in it and if Bethesda are releasing a patch for it?

Btw if I don't get F3 I'm getting FarCry2, which probably seems a better choice simply because I haven't heard of any bugs for it and it looks quite interesting.

Gotta love how this scooter puff joker simply says "dont get far cry 2" without giving any sort of reason.

I and many others on this forum on the other hand would STRONGLY suggest getting far cry 2. The game is very good.

Gameplay is pretty smooth (don't listen to the people who say the aiming sucks...they are on crack). The open world environment offers you a different way to attack every mission...rambo, stealth, lil bit of both. Also, the graphics are quite phenomenal on the ps3 as well.

Thanks, I'm getting FC2 tomorrow and I've decided I'm gonna wait for F3 until Bethesda (hopefully) release a patch to iron out the game's bugs.

However back on topic, from what I hear it's "playable" but that isn't saying much is it?I STRONGLY suggest you wait for a patch. That's what I'll be doing.....if they actually care about sales from the PS3 version and make a patch:?

OK so I finally gave far cry 2 a break after 20 hours of gameplay (45% left or so...)

Anyways I really wanted to give fallout 3 a try before I went to watch some Hockey on the tele since everyone is complaining like the world is about to end.

Firstly, about fallout3 on the ps3...it is visually stunning!! Honestly, you won't be disatisfied with the visuals of this game. As for the gameplay, so far it has been very smooth without and framerate issues (of course I am only an hour in). There was a tinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnny audio malfunction during the intro but that last only about .5 seconds. I also didn't run into the GOAT test bug. Hrmmm, perhaps lucky..So yes, one hour in (just about to escape the vault) and I have not ran into any bugs. Like IGN said in their review, the bugs should not effect your ability to enjoy this game on the PS3. So far so good.

Anyways, this game is sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet so far, I totally look forward to putting a lot of hours into it :).

Yea, I was just talking to a friend on PSN who just got the game and he never encounter any bugs mentioned in the Fallout 3 GS review. The only thing he said is when you recieve messages the game freezes for like 2 seconds the goes back to normal. So maybe it's just certain discs?

Let me tell you it's an amazing game and well worth $60. With the lengthy single player, solid multiplayer and really cool map editor it will last you a LONG time to come.

I'm not particularly sure my friend. With the GOAT test it may have something to do with how you go about handling a situation before you go into the classroom...Not too sure.

Anyways, I knew I shouldn't have tryed fallout 3 b4 I was done far cry 2. Now I want to get on to fallout 3 and just blow peoples limbs off haha. I still wanted to see what all the whining was about. I knew it couldn't be as bad as half the people on here were making it out to be (most of which I am sure hadn't even played the game) and it wasn't.

Cop this game if you haven't...if you are thatttttttt worried that the little bugs will effect your game play then you may want to waitfor a patch (You would have to be the most cynical person in the world, the bugs arent that bad at all.)

***ONE LAST NOTE. If you want to play online and still be able to talk to your friends...just turn the notifications off and it works fine. Notifications are a biatch anyways ;)

What's Deadspace like? I hear its supposed to be really good but I dunno how scary it'll be (I completed FEAR without ever feeling remotely scared so I dunno). Are the controls like tank controls like on RE4? I'm really sick of that control scheme and if it is I probably won't buy it.

The most simple thing to do is turn off the notification settings but why should I if Oblivion didn't have this problem? Other than that, I like Fallout 3 from the small amount of time I had last night.

It's a heads up for me because all these games are designed for 360 then they are ported poorly to the PS3. There is no rational excuse for these devs to make such horrible ports. I have heard reasons like how they needed more time with the PS3 since it's so difficult to code for. Well that was a nearly two years ago.

The only solution would be to start charging for online gaming. No one wants that but that's the way it works. You get what you pay for, and in this case you pay nothing to get crappy ports!

i've been playing F3 and the only bug is that the game temporarily freezes when friends log in or out. Bethesda will definitely release a patch b/c they can't afford not to. it's that simple. if it really bothers you - log off while you play! that's the only bug ive found. otherwise, F3 has been orgasmic. ORGASMIC! it's like a more sophisticated, sci-fi version of Oblivion, which is just what i'm lookin for.

the patch won't take long to materialize - this is a newly released game and the dev team is still actively monitoring the gameplay and feedback.

Charging the customers for the PSN service is a waste; if Sony started doing that I would probably just ditch their online stuff and just play S/P. I don't think Sony are in a position where they can charge people for their online services because of the problems (such as LBP Qu'ran incident, the Fallout 3 port, lost exclusivity of FF13) they are currently going through.

Far Cry 2 is amazing... i'd suggest you get that and wait for F3 to be patched.americahellyeah

Once I hit level 20 the problems began. Right now I cannot play for more than a few minutes. It freezes and completely locks up the PS3. The only way to fix it is to power the PS3 off using the switch at the back as all other controls are locked up. I thought I might be able to play through the glitches but after freezing up 20 or so times within a few minutes (once it even froze on the start up screen) the disk is almost unloadable, forget playable. I thought it might be the disk got dirty but every other game I have is fine and I am not going to risk the PS3 on the hope it will work on the 30th attempt - roll on the patch.

To OP: Fallout 3 isn't that glitchy for PS3, pretty awesome game, it's a very overwhelming game when you think about how much there is to do. Far Cry 2 is great too but I'd give the nod to Fallout 3 even with the bugs.

anyways, this is about the PS3 version as its the one being criticized for its "bugs" I was wondering if they were as bad as people pointed out but if they arent im going to go ahead and give it a purchase.
