how come japanese devs make better looking games?

of all the racing games coming out gran turismo has to be the most real looking game of them all. the gt games have always been ahead of the rest as far as graphics go, im sure ye will say 'but gt is a racing simulator its supposed to be real'. well why dont all games look like that gt is very nice to look at.

ff13 is already looking to be graphicly best video game ever made and the thing still has a year to go until its finished. metal gear solid 4 isnt exactly real looking but wow its so detailed they put the smallist details i have ever seen into this game.

there is other games that i can add that are made in japan but these are the games that realy stand out from the rest

im not saying that other devs or crap or anything i still think that epic games do a great job and infinity ward did an amazing job with cod4 but they just dont look like any of the japanese games why? all game devs know how to make games (exception of EA) but the standard seems to be much higher in japan, what are they doing differently?

They are more talented and don't complain about how hard it is it develop or anything like the other western developers do.

Meaning they put all their efforts in their games, I seriously want to visit JP.

Big part is played because PlayStation 3 is a Japanese console.

It's a fact that Japanese working community is a very hard one, they are like bees, constantly working very hard and prety much take a great pride in any job they do - which also means being a developer.

When you're a working in a company, it's like a family. Unlike in most other parts of the world, you don't have to fear to be fired away all of a suden. Everyone works to make the company proud. I know this from personal experience.

It's expected to give 110%, that's the reason I see most games from Japan in high quality.

Uh you ever heard of a couple of Companies, Naughty Dog and Epic, Infinity Ward....

I guess if you like the Japanese style then its a stylistic thing. COD4 is very well done, Uncharted is the best looking console game of this generation so far...Gears of War is about as good as it gets on a 360 currently...

Honestly right now out of the games released I dont think we have seen much of anything from the Japanese devs...

I don't know what TC is talking about, the best-looking games I've seen on the PS3 this generation have not been Japanese (Heavenly Sword, Uncharted). And the best-looking 360 games, IMO, also have not been Japanese.

Japanese people in general are a proud race and they have very high standards. It's very rare to see them rush a game and release a crappy one full of glitches (hear me EA and Ubisoft?). They'd rather tell you to wait, for as long as they want, see Metal Gear Solid 4 and Gran Turismo 5, until the game is the way they want it.

I wouldn't say that they don't care about deadlines, but the final product is usually polished to a sheen. Delays are common, but great games are common too. I like Japanese games because I like the overall art style and direction from them. They also seem to focus on story more than most others developers. I'd be interested in seeing a Japanese twist on a FPS to be honest.

Anyone who is study Bussiness Adm know that most of todays theories and proccesses to improve quality in many areas came from Japan. Some good examples are Toyota and Sony, look how massive their products are, and how have they triumphed almost everywhere.

On the other side, Americans try to force their way of culture into others, from Fords big cars, to music (as rap). While they only care about profits.

TC i dont think u have seen or played allot of game these day, but i seen alot of game thatlooks way better than japan game, or maybe u talking about in ps1 era than i'll agree with u, most of japan game these day looks outdated compare to any country dev game.

becuase its not all about how much shade rs they have and textures they take the system for what it is and make the best of it and also the art style is more important to them then "is my textures high res or low"

look at SMG for the Nintendo wii that game is beautiful but on a technically level it does not have all that dynamic lighting and blah blah blah.

*** developers is wayyyyyyy better than US developers. Of course if is for 1st party games, US and UK developers are 1 of the best. But once it comes to 3rd party games, it's TOTALLY different. Look at Square-Enix, look at Kojima, look at Level 5. Get the picture?

All *** people work harder than usual. I had just been to Japan and i am very very impressed. 1 example is when i go into a CD shop, i asked the person do they have FF OST, and he bring me to the place where it is, and he waitied for me to look finish, which took about 5mins, and when i go off, then he started to get back to his work. That's the amount of respect they have for customers, not only their own compaines.

yeah japanese give like 200% to what they do because they actually BELIEVE in what they do they like it and they wanna show it to the world, they also dont complainand whine about the PS3 infact they are patient and they know "once we make this one, the next oe will be easier cuz we know how to do everything" which is true once u make the first game the 2nd game is made in half the time b/c nmo more experimenting.

I thought Crytek was a Polish developer...Either way though console wise I still think Bioshock, and Gears are among the best looking games out there. With CoD4 and Uncharted a very close second. AC isn't too ugly itself. So of all those games I don't see many Jp devs.dru26
