because there's no 40 gb PS3, there are only 40 gb Wii's, and there's a 10gb xbox 360jhch49ummm...what? The Wii is only 512mb, and the 360 is 20 gigs, the 120gb 360 is coming out soon, where did you get your information from? If you find the person who told you that, smack them

Because Sony loses an additional $50 for each 20 gig they sell. They have pretty much cut off supply to retailers. I think they either did this by raising the wholesaleprice on the 20 gig or lower the wholesale price on the 60 gig. Either way they made it unprofitable for Retailers to even bother carrying it anymore.crckBleh, its annoying that sony cut off supplies has decidedly cut supply 4 months down the line. I was trudging around looking for a 20g myself, couldn't find one because no store has a desire to stock them -- dunno the reason why, but I figure sony has done something to annoy stores. If they knew that they were losing a ton of money on consoles so they decide to remove the emotion engine and then cut off supplies they shouldn't have bothered in the first place. I feel like they should of done their own thing and just released a single console version. Instead they felt they needed to compete with the 360 on a pricing war and shot theirself in the foot.
Sony stop selling 20GB PS3 because they were losing more money on it. Only dumb people buy the 60GB, because the 20GB same thing except for the 40GB more of HDD and WiFi. doogle13Can't forget about the Memory card slots and the chrome trim. :)

There is no proof that Sony has cut supplies. Retailers just don't want the 20GB. EB Games manager stated that everybody seems to want the 60GB PS3 so theres no real reason to have both. Is this Sony's fault? No. It's the consumer choosing.

Sony has discontinued the 20gig model.
proof? Those of you that are saying Sony discontinued it are wrong- they never did. Stores are seeing more interest in the 60 GB model and they are deciding not to carry the 20 GB. Get your facts straight.
They are getting harder to find ( Sony made more 60 GB than 20 Gb in the first place) but with some digging around you should be able to find one. Iff all else fails there should be some available on eBay.
trust me when i say this U DONT WANT THE 20 GIG MODEL eventually, i hope u realize thisdboy482and why not. i have one. i already had a internet wire behind my tv so no need the wifi. those memory slots are useless because i don't even own a device that has one xcept for a camora but have usb cable that is the same thing as the controller one so no need. if i want a bigger hd i will by a bigger one like 120g. 500
Stores dont sell 20gb consoles because Europe doesnt have them, and because the in NA and Japan customers and stores requested the 60gb over the 20gb console. I have a 20gb and am totally happy with it but I have noticed that the average person just wants the best of the best and doesnt really care if they need all the extra bells and whistles.I just wanna know do stores like Best Buy, Gamestop, Circuit City, etc. are still selling PS3 with 20 GB? Sony has discontinued the 20gig model.
proof?Well, they say it's not official but no one is selling it anymore and even sony's online store doesn't carry it. If they are still making it then why aren't they selling it?

Plus I don't mind adding $100 to my purchase because I did the same with the 360 buying the Wi-FI adapter for it.
