How do hard drives work?

If I want a new hard drive can I transfer all my stuff? Is it easy to install, I think I saw a video were it just pops in and out?

I have a perfect one for you. I had installed 3 different size hard-drives on regular PS3 and PS3 Slim and really, it's very easy. If you have some additional questions, ask away. ;)

google search hard drives? I didn't think you could use more than one. Whenever I put another hard drive in the PS3 it would just HAVE to format.

ive installed two hard drives myself, both on the phat PS3 (a 40Gb and a 80Gb PS3), both were very easy to do. hmmm.. I dont know if you can move the data without another PS3: ps3 firmware 3.15 data transfer (this moves the data between 2). You can easily copy the unprotected data (basically save games without trophies or install data) to an external USB drive but not sure about the protected data. Your PS3 will probably want to format any new drive and you cant have two 'internal' hard drives at once.
