Yeah, so I've noticed that in games such as Uncharted, the GT concept thing, and even like the FIFA Street demo that there are a TON of jaggies. I know Uncharted isn't supposed to look like that, so I'm looking for a solution if anyone can help me out. My TV is set to 720p.

Do you have 720p set in your PS3 display options? I have no jaggies in Uncharted at all. Also what kind of video cable are you using???

It's not like I'm being over-critical, though. Uncharted looks NOTHING like it should, cause the gameplay vids I've seen look better than what it looks like on my screen.

those games have jaggies.. but i can't judge how bad the jaggies are on your screen... maybe they are caused by something, maybe you are very criticall.. hard to tell... in video's the jaggies are far less appearent than in the actual game though. gameplay video's on your pc are much smaller and compressed.

I've been having the same problem, 720p also.

Uncharted and R&C both are heavy on jaggies. Looks better on my sTV.

However, Oblivion looked great. Couldn't even stomach it on my sTV after.

Could be the tv settings most new HDTVS have a vast array of settings you can tweak. maybe turn down sharpness options and contrast a bit.

Many of the problems are because someone hasn't learned to tweek there system out. I have my PS3 connected to a LCD TV and the picture is great. When I play Socom all the textures are almost life like and I can now snipe at much longer ranges than ever before many times I am so far awat I have to get very close to the TV to even see a silouete of the target and still get a perfect shot off. I have gone through some the hardest missions of the game without the bad guys getting a shot at me or my team, meaning a perfect score. There is no way this could be done on a SDTV regardless of how hard you try. It's just as hard even with a HDTV that isn't tweeked out to the max.

I remember playing games with "graphics" like these:

"You are standing in a field. To your north is a house, to your south is a forest with a winding path, to your west is a shear cliff descending into the ocean, to your east is a meadow. What do you want to do?"

Personally jaggies don't seem that bad, and if they really bug you put in a PS1 game and look at the jaggies you won't care anymore about little jaggies in your PS3 games.

The guy who suggested lowering the sharpness setting is probably right. Sharpness is an artificial edge enhancement that, honestly, shouldn't be on HDTVs.

Also, what kind of TV is it? Some cheaper HD LCDs have pretty visible pixel structure.

Although before the thread continues....do you have a 360 and if so....does halo 3 have jaggies.

Easiest solution to hide jaggies? Play around with your tvs sharpness settings. Most people don't see jaggies, because their hidden half the time. Turn up or down your sharpness, until you find a good middle ground. All depends on your tv.

Try calibrating your t.v. with some of the settings recommended on AVS forums. I have a Sony Bravia XBR series, and Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, COD4, Assassin's Creed all look flawless.

Sorry, but a 720p game with 2xAA is gonna have jaggies irregardless of your tv. COD4 is even 640p. Now, don't get me wrong, all these games look great, but they do all have jaggies. I'm using a 1080p Aquos btw.

What are you talking about? COD4 is 1080p, and sorry, I don't notice anything but beautiful graphics. Your 1080p Aquos is garbage compared to my XBR4, which is the highest rated LCD on the market. Maybe that's why your games look bad.

If people read the post I had on here it gives an example of what can be accomplished with a HDTV if you get all the settings correct. This also includes the amount of ambient light that is in the area and hitting the TV screen. I had to slide my HDTV back into the TV hutch enough to keep a very small amount of sunlight hitting the screen just for a very short time. Even to much light behind the TV even in another room can degrade the picture somewhat. If you notice is when you see these TV's on a display in the stores the light is always strategically placed in the area to show the best TV picture regardless of what brand it is.

As for everything else there are always extra settings in the TV's menu unlike the older ones that had a small number of buttons that had a small amount of adjustments. Then there are a few options in the PS3's XMB that can be turned on and off to help clean things up a bit more.

There is no real given because of all the variations of each TV and the environment in which it's set-up in. The perfect environment would be a room with no windows and very low lights that are in the ceiling, like a movie theater has. But there only a very few homes that have a theater built into them although they do exsist.

Well the sharpness settings didn't do anything. I'm at such a loss. UT3 looks great. As does Resistance, and all my 360 games. And yes, Halo 3 has jaggies. But not enough to really ruin the experience. Uncharted has and obscene amount of jaggies that I know aren't supposed to be there. My friend has a 32 inch LCD HDTV and he has no jaggies at all in it.

COD4 on consoles runs at 1024x600 with 2XAA. Do some research bro, next to no console games are 1080p.

Are you also a PC gamer, by any chance?

I notice jaggies in PS3 games all the freaking time. It's just because I've been spoiled playing at 1080p with 4xAA for years.

If you're not a PC gamer... well, some people just notice jaggies more than others. But playing on a huge TV or sitting too close to the screen will make it more obvious. It's all about pixel density.

COD4 is not 1080p. Only a handful of console games are 1080p.
