I got a problem with playing DVD's. Whenever I try to watch one, the screen just goes black and they don't play, I think it has something to do with copyright or something wierd with component, but ya, I got a component cable.

What do I do in order to play DVDs on a PS3 with component cables, I get them to work every now and then but Every time I want to watch a DVD I have to fool around for like 15 mins until it finally works, and I don't know if it was just a mistake that it finally worked.

Please, could anyone help me?

ummmm component cables are not the problem man and less your cables are just faulty or something, that sounds crazy and makes no sense actually. you should just be able to put the dvd in and pick it under video and play it with no problems.

Ya, thats what I thought but when I do my TV goes into power save mode and still plays the movie, I can hear the audio. Like I said, Most of the time it does not play the DVDs, but every once in a very few whiles, it will just start up after I mess with different settings, but I don't know why and I will also go back later to play a DVD again and it won't work again.

I got a 22" 720p monitor that has component input. It works fine with everything else on the PS3 and even on the 360, every DVD on the 360 works just fine. I have no Idea what the problem is.

If you use component cables, you can't upscale DVDs.Turn off the upscaler.

I know it has something to do with upscaling and it won't let you do it with a component cable because of some wierd copyright thing, but I have the upscaler set to off, so I don't know what the problem is.

have you tried picking the 480i option only? i know like cod4 is 1080p but will only achieve it if you cut all the other resolutions, worth a shot
