you could always download old ps1 games on the psn.... they've been there since it was turned on, like the internet.   do you mean you can PLAY the PS1 games you DOWNLOAD?  because i never heard that

as far as how you know the update is working - if you downloaded and installed it, it's working........

if not, then try putting bologna in the slot, i heard that makes it better.

JOKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are PS1 games on the PS Store right now, but they can only be played on a PSP.  Sony will soon be releasing PS1 games that will play on the PS3.  The 1.7 update does allow for PS1 games to be played.  Now they just need to release PS1 games compatible with the PS3.

The Japanese store got like 20-some PS1 games yesterday.  I read only 11 of them will play on the PS3.  So, not all PS1 games released will be playable on the PS3.

Didnt the last update make it so we can play PS1 games on the PS3? From the PS store I mean of course. I thought Sony had verifyed that Downloadable PS1 games could now be played on the PS3...actually nevermind I found proof in the Update thread at the top of the page that clearly states Playstation games form the PS store can now be played on the PS3 as well as the PSP.

As had been said above the update does give the PSone emulator for playing the PSone games from the store- however, the games there now still have a separate license file that must be downloaded and they still look for a PSP to download to. Sony has to replace the games with updated versions that do not need this license file and this was reported to be coming sometime in May.
