i havent played vf5 in a while so i dont really mind that much but i do feel that ps3 is getting the short end of the stick from alot of companies, i guess its because xbox live is already established and has beeen around longer but at the same time its not rightbgj887
I don't know how SEGA plans to sell VF5 on the ps3 after something like this. Really I think that maybe they should not have made the xbox360 version have online and leave the ps3 version hanging because now ps3 owners won't buy VF5 unless they include online play in it. So in a way they have increased their chances of selling more copies of the game on the xbox360 but while doing that they have hurt their chances of selling the game on the ps3. Its a win, lose situation and maybe they shouldn't have included online play at all.
At this point in time after hearing about this I'm not so sure releasing VF5 so early on the ps3 was such a good idea. Maybe they should have kept the ps3 version of the game longer so they could include online play with it. Anyway at this point in the game its too late to go back and I think its safe to say that its going to make SEGA lose money one way or another whether its them not including online play in the ps3 version or SEGA having some type of policy with the ps3 version where you can take your old game in and they will replace it with a new ps3 version of the game that includes online play. Either way though SEGA has dug themselves in a pretty big hole this time and I think its safe to say that its going to cost them quite a bit of money to dig themselves out.
Its one thing to have the game be a ps3 exclusive for a certain period of time but its another thing to include something this big in a later version of the game that is on another system. What I'm saying is some changes are ok for later ports of multiplatform games but I think this is just too big of a change to make to the original game that in the end it will affect sales of the original game that was released for the ps3. This change on the xbox360 version of the game takes the importance of the timed exclusive for the ps3 version away.
I was pretty ticked when I heard VF5 on XBOX was going to have online multiplayer. I bought it for PS3 and played the heck out of single player mode, but none of my friends were into VF so I gave up playing it. It sucks to have a fighting game and no one to fight. Good thing Gamestop has a trade 2 used PS3 games for a new one deal, it paid for 1/2 of NGS which is a great game. billulsundi was p*ssed too. i don't have the game yet (soon tho), but have been a fan of the franchise and support online play for any fps and fighter game. its a shame the ps3 version doesn't have it and hopefully sega will announce an update to make this playable? (wishful thinking)

I really don't see how it would hurt game sales. The 360 has a much bigger user base and with included online play would probably sell much better than if it wasn't included. I'm not sure why they didn't include it with the PS3 version unless MS paid for it. Either way it won't hurt sales for Seg but will probably increase them.
ONline play for a fighting game as precise as VF was said not to work on the PSn, and it won't work very well at all on XBL.
I don't really care either way, i'm a Namco fighting fan anyways.

They will sell alot more copies of the game on the xbox360 but no one that owns a ps3 now is going to buy the game. The game came out a couple of months ago but they have really hurt their chances of selling ps3 copies of this game. Yes, they will make more profit because of it but what happens when VF6 comes out? It may not hurt sales of VF6 for the ps3 but then again it might after something like this. It will definitely affect the sales of the ps3 version of the game, however given the low fanbase they may make more profit but I'm sure it has pissed alot of VF fans off.
Do you really still believe that it couldn't work on PSN? I think that Sega was just blowing smoke on this one.ONline play for a fighting game as precise as VF was said not to work on the PSn, and it won't work very well at all on XBL.

**** SEGA, go with Namco. I bought VF5 for PS3 on launch and now they are giving xbox owners online? WTF is that **** I mean **** it. SEGA can ****ing go bankrupt all I care. Really, at least give as online play too (and for free) or just go bankrupt. I am sick of always getting the short end of the stick as a Nintendo/SONY supporter. First CAPCOM takes away DMC from SONY and now SEGA gives online-play for xbox owners. **** it, and SEGA too.
What the hell How can anyone be pissed by this annoucment its freakin awsome to hear that this great fighter will have online play, So what if you got the short end of the stick with the PS3 Gimp version...you guys should of really thought hard to yourselves....sony has yet to setup a fully intergrated online platform for thier system...what more do you want from sega...especially to be mad at them LOL

Srsly dude if you had a hint from last gen I don't know why the hell you are just sticking to one system, i have yet to get a PS3 but i will when R&C comes out...do yourself a favor and Get a 360 becuase it seems that's were the major releases are these days
Very dissapointed when I heard the announcement. Its ok though, cause xbox owners won't be able to play either, they're waiting for their crap machines to get fixed from a problem named after an STD(red ring of death). Just wait till Tekken comes out, and hopefully Gates will be to sore to bend over and steal that one from sony. Well maybe not.
