I was playing the other day and realized that there was 2 ways to quit your game and return to the XMB. I'm used to holding down the PS button on the controller and quitting the game that way. Which of the two do you use to quit?
it depends, if im turning off the system entirely to quit, then i hold the ps button. if im gonna switch to something else, i press it when quit game, etc
It seems to reset my console when I just press, and quit via the XMB. :? So, Ive stopped doing that and just hold the button and quit game or turn off the system from the main menu.

i always quit the game by pressing the ps button and going to the xmb then quit the game. i always turn my ps3 off by going to the turn off option on the xmb as well..
