You really love your PS3 , don't ya ? =\ Anyways , I just keep it away from dust . When I don't use it , I wrap it up in a thin cloth to prevent dust from accumulating near the vents . And I vacuum dust out of it with a low power vacuum cleaner occasionally .I have a PS3 Console i play only 2 to 3hrs.

same here
well i used to take very good care of my ps3. id dust it daily, vac out the vents weekly ect. but after haveing my 40gig fail after a little over a year and haveing the replacment 120 gig die after 3 months both disk drive related i no longer bother. i dust my 160 gig about once or twice a week with a feather duster and that is it.
thats not a good idea. you can end up causing damnge by doing that. thermal paste is not meant to be changed every month.I have a PS3 Console i play only 2 to 3hrs.

the failure has nothing to do with dusting , my 40Gb is covered with dust all over it cause i dont have time to take care of that and runs fine two years alreadywell i used to take very good care of my ps3. id dust it daily, vac out the vents weekly ect. but after haveing my 40gig fail after a little over a year and haveing the replacment 120 gig die after 3 months both disk drive related i no longer bother. i dust my 160 gig about once or twice a week with a feather duster and that is it.

ive had my ps3 for like, nearly 4 years and i have never done anything to maintain it.
The 40GB hard drive is only just starting to fail. But its still running fine most of the time.

once a month, lol , wow you must be paranoid. I dust the top of mine off about every three months or so and vacum the ports but thats about it.usually i have to hit it a few time with a hammer to get to work and once in a while when the game freezes on me, i would take a torch and unfreeze it.
don't ask me how i take care of my 360...
Yea....you really don't need to be replacing your thermal compound every month. Artic Silver will last you a good 3 years + if you applied it correctly. If anything you risk screwing something up sooner or later on your PS3 taking it apart and putting it back together so often....but it's your investment.
Personally, I just replaced the thermal paste on my launch 60GB a few months ago, I always keep it well ventilated, blow the dust out with compressed air every so often, only play for 1-2 hours at a time, and never play during the summer when/if my room gets too hot.
60GB is still going strong.
