How do you? Do you just put it on stand-by, or do you turn the main power switch off on the back? And which way is better for the PS3?

Hold down the ps button, and then choose turn off system...it will be off when the red light is on

i wouldnt flip the switch every time, unless your moving your system and need to.

If I have the controller, I hold the PS button and put it to sleep. If my controller is out of charge, I stroke it to sleep.

Usually press my finger on teh front of the machine for the 3 seconds or whatever and put my controller next to the console. I usually only turn off the actual console during the school week when I usually dont play it anyways, but if I am only turning it off for the day, or if I am coming back later that night I will just leave it on standby/

Okay, I wasn't surte which way was better for the system. I was flipping the switch after pressing the PS button and shutdown but I gues it is better to just put it on standby (like you all said you do).

Yep fastest way to brick your PS3. Might as well throw it out the window, that way it will stay off. Forever.

there are many ways to turn it off. i recommend u try each of the following. 1. find the breaker box for ur house/apartment or whatever. flip each switch one at a time. go and check if ur ps3 is off after each flip. 2. call the power company and ask them to come out and mark where the power lines are (only applicable if u have ur wires run underground). buy a shovel and start digging. i recommend bolt cutters with rubber handles for next step, but they are optional :P cut power line. 3. when u recieve a power bill in the mail, place it in the toilet then crap on it. flush. repeat if necessary. after 2-3 months ur ps3 will be off. 4. if none of the above work, try holding the ps button and turn it off that way. CAUTION: only try step 4 if 1-3 doesnt work. enjoy

The few times I ever turn my system off I use the controller or remote to put the system in standby mode. I usually just leave my system on 24/7 with no problems.

The controller or power button, but I always turn off the power strip when I leave my place..no sense in paying more on my power bill with all these devices (TV, PS3, 360) in standby mode.

At first I was always full off. Now I let it go off into standby sometime for days also. Standby meaning the red light is still on. But the system is basically off. You just dont use the button in the back. Which I used to switch off all the time.

I know its lazy, but we all know the great thing about that. Is like when you shut it off and just got to sleep. But also. If its on, you just pick up the controller and turn it on. Without having to move either.

Whe im done with my Ps3 i first make sure that the hdd is'nt in progress (the yellow flashing light) then i push the ps button on my controller and choose to quit game, after i go up to the console place my finger on the power button intill it beeps let go and thats that. (BTW you should never turn the power switch on the back of the console off everyday or ever, leaving the red light on is fine)
