I have a 20 gig PS3 (all I could find before Christmas, but hey, it might be a collector's item... someday...:?), and with all my downloading of games and demos I only have around 6 gigs left! I'm now hesitant to buy anymore downloadable games because I'm worried how difficult it may be to transer it over to a new HDD if I were to buy a new one (I do plan to eventually). So how would it be done?

ok... I was unclear, I was meaning change the content from one HDD to the other, I looked on the manual, that is to phisically change the HDD, that I already get.

I have an external 80gig HDD that I hope can transfer the data of the HDD I have now, to the one I get later, but will that really work? That is one of my main concerns.

I was using a little bit of sarcasm earlier, but I can easily change the HDD back to the original (its not like I'm going to throw away a perfically good HDD!).

go to back up utility if you have a big external HDD and that will back up everything except demos or games. it takes about 3 hours or so. if you dont have an external HDD then you can do it one at a time with a flash drive or w/e and move all ur pics, music, vids, and settings. Once u do that, then you can start redownloading all ur demos and games u bought on the PSN by clicking on download list at the main page. u dont have to rebuy anything. i hope that helped.

I would have used a 2gb flash drive to transfer my saves to when putting in a new HDD and then redownload stuff. Though, my 20gig drive failed before I could do that, losing my new 30 hour Oblivion game (I alread played once for 70 hours on the 360 so this HDD failure aslo lossed my will to play it again)

Dont forget! you need to make new folders on the External HDD.. like: "VIDEO" "SAVED DATA UTILITY" etc:)

price, thats why, I would like to spend less than $100 for another HDD (that way I can still say mine cost less then the 60gig version PS3 and have more gigs!).

that may be for you, but for me I don't use any of those memory cards (I barly takes pictures), I have a direct connection with my enternet (and still would even if I had wifi, it's just more stable), and soon will have a larger HDD!

If you know how to use a screw driver then it shouldn't be a problem.

Just make sure you have the right screw driver because its hard to screw off and you can easily strip the screw (I like I did):P so just go to a tool store if you don't have the right screw driver size before you did, I know a lot of people that did the same thing as me.
