How exactly does the internal Wi-fi work???

Can I just go buy a PS3 and automatically start playing games online or do I need to plug some big cables into my computer or something? Thanks in advance.

You'll need a Router if you want to play Wi-Fi.

You need to have a wireless network in your house. For that you need a router. After setting the wireless network you go to your PS3 and in the Network settings change the internet from wired to wireless, and Presto you got internet in your PS3.

If you already have a wireless network, yes it's very easy. But setting up a decent wireless network is difficult.

The only thing you need is a wireless network in your home. If you don't already have this kind of setup then you will need a good wireless router connected to your Internet Providers modem. This will serve your desktop usually using a CAT cable and will broadcast a signal for your wireless electronics such as the PS3 and if you want a laptop that has a wireless network card or the Intel Centrino proccesor (that has a wifi built onto the chipset).
