my ps3 fan is having some issues so im sending it to sony for a repair. if you have gotten your system reapaired can you share your experience?

how well did they fix the issue? how long it took? were there any other problems that you initially did not have but have now with the new system you got from sony?

thanks!

well, fortunately i've never had to send my PS3 in for repairs, but when my friend sent his 80gb in, it took around 3 days for the box to get to his house, and once he packed the PS3 up and sent it in, it took a little over 2 weeks (15 days i think) to get it back, which isn't that bad imo...

When ps3 #3's GPU finally was confirmed corrupt, I had to call them up. First girl that answered the phone sounded like someone who was on their H1B from Japan and already was waging a personal war with the English language. When I finally got through with someone that did speak English properly, she then got on my case because I couldn't understand the first woman's rant on the phone. Well, after that drama, I finally paid my $150 ransom and got a coffin box sent to me in a few days with a prepaid UPS slip and prefabricated foam to secure the ps3 in there. I put the system in (and it very specifically says ONLY the console) and filled out the forms, then dropped it off at the UPS store. about two days after UPS's tracking # confirmed delivery, SOny's site started having reports of it, then I got an email saying my return was on its way. Given some prior horror stories of people saying how they'd sent in their 60 and then got back a neutered unit, I was really scared. So in the end, when the box arrives, I find it wasn't the 60 I did send in... but it was a remanufactured 60GB unit with everything proper. The Serial #'s didn't match, but the CECHA confirms it's a proper ps3. So they basically replaced me with a (technically) new one that has been reliable (albeit running hot) ps3.

I've heard Sony's customer service is horrible. They denied some people's warranties just because they used a surge protector when they had their PS3 plugged in. And on top of that it takes almost two freaking months (6-8 weeks) before you get it back. So I wouldn't expect much TC when it comes down to C.S.
