How hard is Demon Souls?

Im getting the European version,and i heard (surprise!) that its a very hard game,or just very severe death punishments

im not a hardcore gamer,i just like completing games up to 100% and use strategies,i mainly play action games (Gow3,HR,Ratchet,UC2,Borderlands even if its an RPS)

also,keep in mind that after 6 deaths or so i get quite annoyed =/ shall i stick to online at all times?

Hmm i voted for not too hard, but challenging at times. The thing is it is not too hard but it is more then challenging AT TIMES. It is inbetween that and pi$$ hard. If you wan't a challenge this is a good game to get. I have had moments where I get frustrated and ALMOST give up (because I just virtually lost everything lol) and then when you make it and you are on a roll it more then makes up for it.

It's pretty hard when you first start out, but as you die and die and die you soon get the hang of it and are able to progress a lot faster after the first couple demon's. You get a great sense of accomplishment once you beat the game for the first time, new game+ is even more brutal though...

I highly suggest this game though if you are a fan of RPGs, great graphics, and easy-to-learn mechanics.

Hmm I'm not sure if "piss" is hard, but that's what I voted for. I've only gotten this game recently, but boy is it challenging. A certain creature called the red-eyed knight in the first area defeated me 6-7 times yesterday (yes, you die so much in this game you eventually lose count). Finally, after defeating him, I unlocked the door only to be one-hit killed by the next enemy! And guess what? You die, and you get to start all over again. So I'll have to try to defeat that knight again sometime. :? But it's still definitely worth getting.

There are enough of them. Bloodstains can be helpful but don't count on them. As for the people helping you, I don't like to be helped too much, but I have to admit at one level I was getting pretty PO'd and had a guy help me, but we both died at the boss lol. So yes you will die and I am willing to bet you will die many times in a row a couple of times. But if you are a decent player and can be patient enough to learn the game, and understand that the reason you are dieing is because you are making the same mistakes, then you will lilke it. The game is usually pretty fair, it just doesn't hold your hand and give you hints and tons of checkpoints and such.

If that was in the first level then yes the red Eyed knight can be very hard for a beginner and the mini boss past him is WAY too hard for someone who just started. You have to know when to toss your pride out the window and run for your life lol.

Messages and blood stains do help but it doesn't mean you will have the skill like another player to defeat a brutal enemy. So tread carefully, but be prepared to die a lot. And it's very tactical for specific enemies.. because they can easily 1 shot you.

Same here. But to answer your question it's not hard, but you gotta gotta use tactics, at least that works for me.

There is cheap level design (Im looking at you 5-2 :x) and some hard enemys and bosses, but it really is just cruel punishments.

It's just because in the intro video I'm almost positive there's more than 2 Summons at one point. I thought it was safe to assume you could summon more than that.

it's "rewarding" hard, and it gets easier as the game progresses as you pick up more powers/souls.

MAAAN... this game was awesome. I dumped like 60-70 hours in this puppy.
