If ur ps3 is connected online and u play online then its worth it with all the awesome races vehicles and unlocks and customization but if u want to get it for the sp then i think rent is the way to go because although it has some very epic (emphasis on word EPIC ) moments its festival has only 36 races and i think most previous motorstorm fans will be disappointed with this but u cant go wrong with mp hereHey, this game looks interesting and i liked the demo, but i'm not sure about the full game, is it worth buying the retail version?

Multiplayer heavy. Practically everything in the game is unlocked via raking up in MP.
I like the motion comics linking each races, thought it was a good idea for festival mode. The tracks are far more entertaining this time round and Im loving the vehicle customisation, very extensive.
Really disappointed to hear that it's so focused on multiplayer. That's fine if you buy it now, but I was planning on maybe picking it up in a few months, and by that time the only people online will be the absolute professionals who really love it and a few noobs who just picked it up. Not exactly the sort of online experience that's going to keep me coming back enough times to do a serious amount of levelling up.
thanks for all the messages :) it was either this or top spin 4 as im quite a big tennis fan and it got great reviews

It has a new kind of way of leveling up, or maybe not new, but new to the series. You don't really need to win the races to earn a lot of xp, it's all based on different things, like drifting or air-time etc. You only get a few hundred xp for winning as opposed to all these other goals that can give you as much as 100000 points. So no matter what your skill level you always have something other to aim for than just winning the race. Strongly recommend getting this one. Everyone who has tried the multiplayer have loved it, or at least I haven't heard anyone complain or anything. I for one am going back day after day to get my dose of this multiplayer goodness!

Too many games are focusing on multiplayer, it's so frustrating!

thats good advice, the multiplayer is really good and adds lots of replay value :)
I like it I think it's the best game in the series so far and I've got to say Evolution Studios have made the game slightly easier the A.I is still a bit brutal, but it's not as hard as Pacific Rift. The thing though in order to get to the next race you have to come in the top 3 and unlike the other Motorstorm games you don't have a choice of what you want to race on next.
The multiplayer is fun and it's not all about coming first it has an interesting betting system where you bet on people who you think you can beat and if your aiming to beat a higher ranked racer you got loads of chips and it levels you up faster. I personally do think most of the fun with the Motorstorm series is the online modes I don't tend to play online a lot but Evolution Studio has made the multiplayer fun as I do like the betting system.

True, I wasn't a fan of the online MP in Pacific Rift but the devs really made it better for Apocalypse. Much easier to level up and has a lot more depth for those who want more. At least now the unlockables are approachable whereas in Pacific Rift to unlock certain vehicles the challenges were obscenely hard.
I would score it at 0.5 less than PR. Yes the MP is good and the SP is short. None of the unlockables in MP help in the SP so......
AI is still pretty brutal so be prepared to throw the remote a few times especially on the last playthough
i want to play this game alot...cmon may!
Though in one review, the reviewer mentioned that he felt like the game was more focused on the special effects and the destruction rather than the racing. I thought that could be true, but i havent played it yet.

have close to 100h playtime on this game and I gotta say, the destruction effects go to the background of your mind after playing a while, I mean, at first they kinda "come out" pretty much compared to other things like racing, but once you get in the game and start to know the tracks and vehicles and how to control them you start to realize that the racing aspect is actually very well done in the game. There's a lot of nuances and a lot to learn. A relatively simple track, that you would not at first think would make such a big difference between the players who have grasped the nuances as opposed to those who are still learning, can actually open your eyes to the sweetness of racing when for example 16 decent players are on it and the timedifferences on the finish line are 0.00.01 etc =) and still a hardcore player can leave a gap of over 30sec to the second place if all goes well. There just is no other game that delivers "the same way" as this one on the market.
also, please do not judge this game based on the lousy demo.. it was not representative of the game as whole, not even close.
After a short while with the game, I find it's okay but it's certainly not worth $60.00.
I'd say wait a bit for it to go on sale.
While you wait, you can play Blur or Split Second, which are half the price and are just as fun.
What puts me off is that there's no split screen, so, say for instance, the PSN network goes down and you want to play against humans, you're boned.
I just got it in the mail from gamefly today and its pretty fun but im happy i rented it because i see myself getting bored of it quickly.

They really should have put splitscreen in the game because not everyone has internet.
