Guess I get to stick with my poorly made console by the name of 360..hooray!

Do the mics last atleast? I've been through 3 Xbox headsets.

You can use Bluetooth headsets on the PS3

For those that actually have a mic, can you just talk or do you have to hold a button? I remember in Socom you would have to hold circle, that was the only game I played so im not sure if it was only that game. Do alot of people use their PS2 mics? Cause whats the point of playing online if your not communicating with anyone.

I would say 70-80% of the online community has headsets (including me). About your question of holding down a button to talk......It varies depending on the game. Like in Resistance, you have to hold in L3 to talk, unless you switch over to Tango, or w/e. Motorstorm, No button holding. And in Splinter Cell there is no button holding either. I just mention these 3 games because these were the only games I actually played for awhile online (and still do).

ps3 users seem a lot more friendly and mature than most 360 users. when i play anything online on my 360, i always find some **** head who screams and curses and cries for no reason. theres always trash talking, but ive found most ps3 users dont get carried away like those other guys.

Man, forgot to mention that. It is true. Never again will I play on Xbox Live. Because we, the PS3 Users are very mature....and we still know how to have a good time.

Thats one of the reasons that contributed to my decision to get a PS3.

Say you're in the room waiting for the round to begin. You have to hold in L3 to talk here......but, once the game begins, other chat options are available through the pause menu. You can stay on the "normal" channel (which you're already on) and talk to everybody, but you still have to hold in l3 to talk. OR, say if you and you're buddies are in the room and you just want to chat with each other......You can all move to another channel (these channels are named Tango, Charlie, Bravo and some others) located through the pause menu where you don't have to hold any buttons to talk. So more of a private channel. I hope that makes sense?

The online community is superb, ironically, the $600 price tag is actually a good thing as the majority of Ps3 owners are teens in their mid and late years,so you won't have to deal with screaming and such.

I have no experience with the online PS community, but I get the impression that the community is pretty quiet. Hopefully Home and Warhawk should change that.

I highly recommend this mic. Its affordable and awesome. Clear sound and the mic rocks. Wow, it's on sale too! I wish it was when I bought it for 40 dollars, o well, still a good buy.

I would even go as far as to say that this should be the official headset for the PS3. Color matches too!

True, with a little higher price its a little better because then not every A-hole 9 year old kid is gonna play or own one. THe majority of people i've met online are about 15 to 36, maybe one or two little kids at most.

This varies from game to game along with console to console...play a game like Shadowrun and the community is AWESOME. I believe it's the mainstream games(Halo/Gears) that have alot of whiners/racists/whatever because the vast amount of people playing. I'm not sure about PS3, but on 360 you can mute some jerk in about .023432 seconds flat. I'm sorry but 70%-80% headset users on PS3 is way bogus. I have friends with PS3's and they say it's like a ghost town out there when it comes to voice chat.

i understand. not getting 'defensive', but it seems like everyone that hasnt spent time on the ps3 is a ps3 expert, and it tends to piss me off. i like xbox 360, but i dont go on their forum and keep them updated on what things the ps3 is doing well in contrast to the 360, i dont have time for that sort of thing, and neither should you. what, are the forums a 'ghost town' tonight?

You didn't have to. It's an open forum the last time I checked. And for the other guy, maybe you should come to our side and see how things are going...it seems that Sony likes what they see.

And if I wanted any information about the X360, I would go to the X360 forum. Thank you.

Laughable. we all know XBL has set the standard for online console gaming, but just because sony is looking to addopt some of the same features doesnt mean they wanna be like XBL. they are just getting so much bad press by uneducated xbots and biased game sites, they have no choice but to try something new.

The PSN is fine as it is, it works, and its free. this can go both ways btw...what color did they paint their new xbox 'elite'? oh black? so that means that sony won the color war! hooray! oh and they put a bigger harddrive in it to stay competitive because you can put as big of a hardrive as you want in the ps3? they addopted that too??!!!

Well I have a 360, I play with alot of kids but me and my teammates just tell them to shut up and play the game. I dont care if some 5 year old is crying about how someone just "roadie runned" him in Gears of War or somethin. What bothers me is why people get racist.

But I plan on getting PS3 when they have the price drop. Just wonderin how the online community was like because PS2's sucked.

well said! and another thing , sony never copy the home button off the 360 its was there idea first that had it on the PSP and that came out 2004 before the xbox360 came out the end of the year in 2005. so people should stop saying sony is a big copy cat and realise whats MS is doing too.
