Depends on the game. Resistance has great online play. ( I have comcast internet) While others like the darkness have horrible lag. I have never had any serious lag issues with LIVE. However you do pay for it. But what live has is a massive collection of demos and multimedia content. I hope the PSN will become significantly more stable by November, with the release of HOME. All the demos on Live can be downloaded subscription free, the subscription is what allows for people to play online, the marketplace can be visited by people with silver accounts. As far as in game online though PSN offers games with dedicated servers making what is in my opinionbetter online play. I compare my experience on the PSN with my experience with Halo 2, is Halo 2 still the pinnacle of Live online play?
very good service. free = good!
i'm in australia, and the first time i played resistance i stumbled into a US server, and somehow it was playable. i really didn't notice any lag. Since then i've played in AUS servers and its fault less, good fun. In Motorstorm i have experienced a little bit of lag, the cars tend to skip around a little bit, but since the game is really more about racing than it is smashing your oponents then it doesn't have negative implications.
the PS store is great, downloads are fast and being able to queue up downloads and run them in the background while playing games is a great feature. Very much looking forward to Home and Littlebigplanet for their community/online potential.
