I recently got a PS3 and i'm loving PSN and all the demos it offers and it always keeps me occupied. However, Xbox Live is still far superior. How long do you think it'll take for Sony to catch up and do you think they will need to start charging to finally catch up?

I know Home is coming....but what i would like is much more content offered every week.

I think once Home is out, it will be full speed ahead for the PSN. At the moment, it seems that this could be the biggest PSN concentration and when it's out, Sony will be able to concentrate more with content. As we know, Home will deliver a whole new medium to get content across to people and I can only see things getting better.

They just need to get it all out now! It has been a waiting game and the little things are starting to deliver the bigger and better picture. I just wish it could of all happened from day one though.

In system wars, the only responses I would get would be " NEVR lOLZ PS3 SUXORZ" or " PS3 IS BETTER ALREADY HALO 5ux"

That's why.

I hope so. I hope Home has a smooth launch allowing Sony to focus on the improving content provided as well as making PSN new and exciting. Long time till Home.....

Are we talking content and feature-wise or are we just talking about the multiplayer experience?

Mainly content and feature wise in my opinion. Multiplayer Experience isn't much of a difference IMO.

Ok.

Well, as far as my personal use, everything that I actually take advantage of on Xbox Live is also available on PSN.

Downloadable pre-gen games? Yes
Downloadable demos? Yes
Downloadable movie trailers? Yes
Advertisements? Uh, wait. Not really, no.
Downloadable themes? Yes

I personally don't waste my time on Xbox Live watching movies or TV shows, and I can't even tell you the last time I looked at the Inside Xbox news thing.

So to be honest, I really think that both services provide me exactly what I want from them for a moderately reasonable fee. Wait, what?

Well I own both systems and the truth is, Xbox live has more content such as TV shows movies and a bunch of junk. The PSN is still catching up.. remember the Xbox had a whole year to get everything right before the ps3 came out..

Now the on-line play for both systems is terrific but there is a slight problem. On the PSN no-one seems to have a MIC, whereas the people over at Xbox Live come with a mic out of the box.

I still think the PSN is doing fine.

Yeah, and one more thing. I recently back to internet browse on my PS3. I think it works better now. it even has YouTube on the front page.... can XboxLive do that? No.

I don't think it'll ever quite catch up, XBL was just very well-thought out from the beginning.

That said, I personally don't care for much of what XBL offers in addition to what PSN has. Movie and tv show rentals is something I'll never use, it's robbery to charge so much for something you can watch once and bandwidth still isn't high enough to support convenient HD content streaming.

Imo, the only thing I really want from PSN now is web integration equal to xbox.com, being able to check your profile and send messages from a web browser, have actual gamercards that update in real-time. Sony has hinted at something like that last E3 when they showed off Home, mentioning a Home web profile and I would hope Sony would show more of that service at this year's E3.

Xbox Live will copy PSN and PSN will copy XBL for the rest of eternity so I think they'll be equals in 2009.

We should wait untilk E3 so Microsoft and Sony can reveal their online plans. Sony still needs more time though. But, when Microsoft copies Sony and vice-versa its great for us, the gamers. PSN will never truly catch up to XBL IMO. Not in the next few years at least.

Sadly, that is entirely true. They both seem to be reacting to each other rather than innovating. Sucks for us...

the only thing i liked better about xbox live was in game messaging, and now ps3 has that. so officially psn is better.
would have liked to get another xbox for gears 2 but i dont want to deal with the hastle of repairs and xbox live. too much.. i hope they eventually port that game.

How long before XBL catches up to PSN? Sometimes when I'm sitting in my living room, I wish I could open my dashboard up and have a internet search right in the menu that takes me straight to an integrated web browser. Or sometimes I want to watch streaming tv shows for free through a web browser on my tv. I mean, I can do these with my playstation, why is x-box so far behind? And if they do ever catch up, do you think they will finally stop charging for a service which should be free?

Also, IMO of course, the ability to buy and watch blu-ray movies is greater than the ability to buy and download hd movies off x-box live, especially on a console that doesn't have a HDD as standard. Until standard HDD's are in the terrabytes at least, at reasonable prices, downloadable media is trumped by large capacity disks for anyone that wants to have a serious movie collection. I mention this since movies and tv shows was cited as equaling xbl having more content than psn.

The only way to get that much power is through a bolt of lightning!!!

I think the services are pretty much the same now. I do download the trailers and such but thats is because I have space that I'm never gonna fill up and even if I run out of space I could just watch all movie trailers on the internet. I think cross game chat isn't that big a deal because I only know three people that have a PS3 and would only talk to one of them and we would rather text eachother.
